My wife came home an told me that the car had accelerated on it's own. I took it for a drive after she had shut it off, and found no problems. This happened several months ago, and she took it to the local dealer, and they could not find a problem. This pass weekend the same thing happened to me. I even drove up a hill to see if it would keep on accelerating, and it did. I had to pull over to the side of the road and turn the car off. When I restarted, it worked normally. The cruise control was off.

The contact owns a 2013 Hyundai Genesis. While driving approximately 3 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently and crashed into two vehicles that were parked. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 20,000.

While in traffic, stopped and attempting to change to next left hand lane, car stalls for a few seconds instead of accelerate, then it takes off after delay. The delay will cause an accident. Have mentioned this to the dealer and they do nothing. Dealer says everything is operating as designed. Posted this incident on Genesis forum and have gotten numerous complaints describing the same problem as I have been experiencing. We have had the car now just over 1 year now and it still does the hesitation. This issue needs to be addressed before some one gets killed due to no accelerator response when in traffic. Other than this problem, we like the 2013 Genesis very much.

While traveling at the posted highway speed I had the cruise control engaged when suddenly the car lurched, then surged. I started/tried to use the brakes to slow the car. That didn't work. I tried to disengage the cruise control...that didn't work....car kept speeding up till I hit a massive rv at 90mph. I was knocked unconscious, taken by ambulance to a trauma center, and later learned that none of the many airbags that this car had did not deploy. I am truly blessed having survived this accident. There needs to be better vehicles with better working systems to protect us. I will not rent another Hyundai ever again!!

This is my 2nd time that has happened, 1st time was about in Feb 15. 2014 and 2nd, on April 2,2014. Both times, I was on richmond hwy alexandria va driving abot 45 to 50 miles per hour. All of sudden the car decelerated to about 5 miles and I was flooring the pedal. I was in such a shock about this incident being that my car is only 1 year old. So we took it to the alexandria Hyundai dealership. The repair was very fast, they informed me that the throttle programming was off. I was in fear of my life since I drive through tunnels and bridges. I trusted that it will be fixed permanently but to find out that 2 months later I had to experience deathly re occurrence. I was so petrified and did not want to drive that car again so I requested to exchange to another car. My husband did all of the transactions for the new car. Few days later, paper work arrived, the salesman came to my work during busy time so I didn't have chance to read in details.well the paper work read that my new car was 2013 instead of 2014. I was so upset in addition to my other issue and not wanting the same model and year. I feel that this car and may be the model is very dangerous and need to report for consumer to be aware of this problem. Thank you.

Vehicle hesitates when trying to accelerate in city & highway traffic. I have taken it to the dealer twice and it will be the third time tomorrow. They don't seem to have a solution and tell me that the vehicle is learning my driving habit's. (how funny). This is my 15th or so new high line vehicle. This hesitation is causing life threatening experiences. I almost got creamed, (hit) several times while trying to merge on the free way. I see I'm not the only one with this problem. We need help.

When turning right from a standstill, car momentarily stalls and then lunges forward after 2 or 3 seconds. This happens 3 OR4 times a day. Mechanic at dealership said my foot was on the brake. The problem has continued and my foot was not on the brake.

I had to put in a date to make this work this a problem from the first day I bought the car. From a stop if I accelerated to a few miles per hour and for some reason I had to stop, when I pushed down on the accelerator nothing happened. After a second or two the car jumped forward and if another car was close I would have I would have rear ended it. Obviously, I am extra cautious and have avoided this problem. I reported it to the dealer twice and got the same answer, "oh they all do that." The dealers are protecting Hyundai. Who will protect me? I checked online and found that there are many people with this problem. One person said he turned off the tracking control system. This is a dangerous problem especially for an inexperienced or novice driver.

I had 2 accidents on 7/7/2013. One low speed rear end collision with a mini-van. The other was a high speed rear end collision with large rv. Both times I had the cruise control engaged, and could not stop the vehicle using the car's brake pedal system. I was eventually taken to an er, then admitted to an icu ward. I sustained a concussion, bruises, and abrasions. Most of what happened in the high speed collision are of temporary moments of memories due to the concussion and loss of consciousness. I am quite upset to have gone through these accidents with a new 2013 Hyundai Genesis that was rented from enterprise rental car from logan airport in boston mass. There was no airbag deployment in either accident. Car was towed away and do not currently know the VIN of the vehicle that I am reporting.
