2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. Consumer writes in regards of airbag recall. The consumer stated the air bag light illuminated. The dealer stated they rectified the recall issue, but they mentioned that although they reset the air bag light/sensor, the problem identified for the front sensor short, to the battery, was tracked to the under hood junction box, which was different than what the recall was for.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai sante fe. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag off warning light continued to illuminate. The dealer advised that the occupant of the passenger seat must weigh 110 pounds or more in order for the air bag to engage. The contact was concerned because for a small statured person, the air bag would not engage if needed. The dealer advised the contact that they were unable to make repairs to adjust to a person's weight. In addition, the contact stated if on a slight incline, the emergency brake would not engage. The dealer advised the contact that the failure was normal in his specific year, make and model. The vehicle was not repaired for either failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105 and the current mileage was 34,688.

Air bag system for a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe disarm while driving or will not arm after starting. My wife weighs 105 lbs. Quite often to arm the system she has to bend over and get weight on front of seat system will arm. After traveling some distance sitting in the right position the air bag light will come on and stay on until my wife bends forward to rear system this has been occurring since the car was new.

Our 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe has been taken to conicelli Hyundai numerous times and complained that the passenger airbag is not detecting my wife sitting in the passenger seat who weighs approximately 110 lbs. Each time, they've told us that the weight requirement is something different, yet always above my wife's weight. I've researched this and have found many of the same complaints (some where people have been seriously injured in an accident due to the airbag not deploying). The mechanics have suggested that my wife sit in the back seat!!! this is not fixing the problem!

When my partner sits on passenger side, the air bag light indicator remains on, indicating that air bag is off. She is 54 yrs old, 5'2, 113 lbs. When previously brought to dealer, they state that there is no problem with the sensor & the air bag. They called Hyundai, and then told me that it is set for 125-130 lbs but could not give me that in writing. Please, I'm afraid for her safety. Hyundai should rewire & put in a switch to turn air bag off. Not the other way around, the way it is now. I don't have any children so turning off the airbag manually is not a problem. Traveling in the car is not only not safe, but not enjoyable. Until you can force Hyundai to fix the problem, she will have to sit in the back. It is not right. What is going to take to correct the problem, someone's death. Please, I hope it is corrected before that happens. I have been on numerous forums that indicate many people across the country are having the same problem & Hyundai won't fix it like they did with the sonata. Please do something. Thank you in advance.

Airbag system (passenger side) doesn't always "sense" the occupant accurately, in a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. The vehicle's front-passenger "airbag off" warning light came on whenever a small adult was in the seat, or would intermittently turn off depending on the person's sitting position. This affects my 125 pound wife who by Hyundai's test is considered a person of "smaller stature." I was told 130 lbs is the minimum weight to enable the airbag but again depending on her sitting position, the light will go on and off. The same system works fine in a 2009 Hyundai sonata in which she would be protected. Why is there a difference?

The passenger front air bag sensor located in the seat does not correctly classify my wife (130 lbs.) as an adult. As a result, the passenger front air bag and passenger side impact air bags are not consistently activated. The "passenger air bag off" indicator light located on the dash is on at least 30% or more of the time of travel. This system is not dependable in the event of a front or side impact. There is no way to know when the system will be activated and protecting my wife. She weighs 130 pounds in body weight. I believe the sensor in the seat is poorly designed and ultimately unreliable and unsafe.

We have a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe and the front passenger seat air bag indicator is malfunctioning. My wife (the passenger) is 5' 3' and 115 pounds. She sits in the seat properly as stated in the manual, however sometimes the air bag light is illuminated "off" indicating that the system is not active (air bag system will not engage in case of a frontal crash), other times (30%) it works properly. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times, 4379, 5767 and 11,421 miles. They replaced the seat but it didn't change anything. They said they could do nothing else and my wife should sit in the back seat. When we test drove this vehicle everything worked fine, three weeks later the problem started. My wife and I have become reluctant to drive this vehicle in its current condition. If Hyundai motor America cannot fix this problem as they have stated, they should replace or buy this (these) vehicles back. I can't understand how this vehicle received a 5 star crash rating with so many similar complains about the same problem.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. The contact stated that when a 150 lbs. Occupant is seated in the front passenger seat, the air bag sensor states that the air bag is inoperative. In the event of a crash, the air bag will not properly deploy. She took the vehicle to the dealer, but they were unable to duplicate the failure the first time. During the second visit to the dealer, the failure was duplicated; however, they could not provide a remedy. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 25,000.

Passenger airbag on/off indicator light reads off, although a 5'3", 125lb adult is seated in passenger. Brought to dealer service dept attention, told I needed to wiggle in the seat to get all four sensors to activate. Occasionally this technique will get the light to no longer illuminate, but if you move your position slightly - the light read off once again.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. From the date of purchase, the contact has experienced air bag light failure with the vehicle. The dealer was able to repair the failure on the driver's side, but not the passenger side. The air bag light intermittently illuminates with or without an occupant in the passenger seat. He took the vehicle back to the dealer and they performed a diagnostic on the seat. They replaced the seat with a new one, but the failure was still present. The dealer then reinstalled the old seat, but replaced the seat module. This also did not correct the failure. The mechanic could not identify the cause of the failure and no further repairs have been made. The failure mileage was 5,000 and current mileage was 33,000. Updated 08/01/08

I bought a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe limited 3 weeks ago. We have noticed that repeatedly and unpredictably that the passenger side air bag sensor illuminates, indicating that the air bag has turned off, while my wife is riding in the front seat. She is average size for an adult female, and there is absolutely no reason that this should occur. I find this to be completely unacceptable and very, very dangerous. This vehicle needs to be recalled and this feature absolutely has to be corrected. 12,000 of the 2005 Santa Fe's were recalled and a class action suit was filed for an airbag sensor problem and the 2007 version of this vehicle should be recalled immediately.!! this is extremely dangerous!!! unnecessary death(s) are imminent if this is not corrected.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. While driving between 5 and 60 mph, the passenger side air bag warning light was illuminating intermittently. The dealer inspected the vehicle approximately five times and is unable to determine the cause of failure. No repairs were made. The current mileage was 21,000 and failure mileage was 1,000. The consumer stated the passenger seat was replaced in July 2007, however there was still no change in operation. Updated 10/24/07.

Purchased a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe in Feb/07. The passenger side airbag light intermittently turns on (airbag is inactivated) and off (no light means airbag activated) when my 5'6" 120lbs wife sits in the seat. All positional suggestions in the manual (sitting straight up, feet flat on the floor, etc) have been adhered to with the same intermittent result. I would hazard a guess and say that the passenger airbag is off 75% of the time when she sits in the seat. The only suggestion we have received from the dealership is to sit in the back seat.
