The contact's daughter owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power with the hybrid system message displayed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, no error codes were retrieved and the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was then towed to Gray Epperson Hyundai (4100 APD 40, Cleveland, TN 37311) where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was last towed to an independent mechanic, who replaced the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The failure mileage was 140,266.
The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. While driving 65 mph, the hybrid assist lost power and the vehicle was coasted to the shoulder. The contact could not restart the engine. Also, the battery warning indicator illuminated days later. The vehicle was towed to bill hood Hyundai (401 N morrison blvd, hammond, la 70401, (985) 345-0321) where it was being diagnosed and repaired. The contact planned to have the diagnostic and repair specifics on May 20, 2019. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000. The VIN was unknown.
2012 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer writes in regards to manufacturers false mpg claims and vehicle acceleration issues. The consumer noticed, when the vehicle was cold, it seemed as though the vehicle could not decided if it wanted to be in electric or gas mode, as it was chugging as the consumer was trying to drive up the hill. The dealer informed the consumer, that a computer upgrade needed to be performed on the vehicle. After the computer was upgraded, the consumer experienced another failure. In October 2015, the vehicle once again stopped without any warning. The lights flashed on the dash, with a message to stop safely and check the hybrid drive.
