While slowing down in rush hour traffic, the hybrid system failed. Alarms were sounding, error message “hybrid system warning safely stop do not drive”. I couldn’t drive since the engine stalled! At first, I couldn’t shut the engine off. After pressing the button several times, it finally went through the shutdown screen. I waited a minute and pressed the button again and it would not start, it went blank. It was rush hour and I happen to be changing lanes when vehicle stalled, was able to rolled on emergency lane and waited for stall. Very dangerous situation for us. We want to sell vehicle right away. Hyundai dealer has it now and don't what the problem was. 2nd time this has happen to us. It also happen to my daughter Hyundai 2013 Santa Fe. She trade in her car and bought Honda. She has not had a issue with her Honda. We will never buy a Hyundai again. Many issues with vehicle, and the gas mileage for hybrid is not as they mention when you are sold vehicle.

I waited a minute and pressed the button again and was able to continue driving home. It was rush hour and luckily we had already exited the freeway in rush hour but was on a busy side street. Had we still been on the freeway when this happened, we may not be here to make this statement. Appointment Monday to see if they can figure it out. From the complaints I see here having the same issue, I am not confident.

car stops while driving and wheel locks

As I was driving down the road, a warning sign appears in my dash that says DO NOT DRIVE.... mean while im already driving.... cars starts to stall and wheel locks. I get the car towed to the dealership that night and the next day... which is today I am waiting for someone to call and ask me what happens and nothing... So I decided to drive there and what do I see..... my car sitting on the side like no one cares that is there... when I go in I find out that there is only 1 person that works on hybrids and they don't know when they will be able to take a look at it... oh and lets not forget they don't do loaner cars.. I just bought this car 1 year ago from this same dealership...they cant give me any type of estimate of when the tech will be able to look at my car... this is very BAD SERVICE!!! Why would my car stop driving after having it only a year?????

Sonata Hybrid Limited 2.4L With Elecrtric

This is a huge safety issue, If a car stalls or refuses to accelerate for 2 seconds when you need to get out of the way of a truck, I would call it a death machine.
