Car would not start, engine would not crank. I assumed it was the battery, since it was the original, and had it replaced by a local garage. Car would still not start. I had the car towed to local Infinity Dealer. The service manager called me the next day to inform me that the Steering Lock Module needed to be replaced. He quoted me $1,150 for the module and would take 3 hours of labor. The labor cost was invoices a 3 for an amount of $465. The good new he said was that he happened to have the module in stock and could replace it right away.

Bottom line is I'll not have my Infiniti serviced by Infiniti again. Now would I purchase another Nissan or Infiniti produdct. As someone pointed out Nissan appears to send out "recalls" for many more items than does Infiniti. The locking module has been listed in Nissan recalls but have not found it in an Infiniti recall.

On my way into work I tried to start the car and nothing but a yellow key light and red car with key inside displayed on the dash. The key fob worked to lock and unlock the car, but the car would not start. Tried everything the dealer suggested over the phone (put the key in the slot, change the battery in the key fob, jumpstart the car) but nothing worked. Towed the car to the dealership to find that it was the steering lock assembly after a few days. It took another couple days to get the part ordered and delivered. Never once did the dealership mention that there was any type of recall - likely because it was limited to Nissan and not Infiniti. Considering this was an issue identified by Nissan, why wouldn't Infiniti be included?
