1999 izusu Rodeo with multiple problems: Ie: ABS brake light won't go out. Have had vehicle serviced however when coming to a stop, vehicle slides. Gas gauge light won't go out...tank is full...repair price-crazy. High idle-foot on brake and vehicle lunges forward. While driving, vehicle picks up speed quickly. Windshield wipers erratic-sometimes they work, sometimes they don't and sometimes they just stop right in the middle of the window. All of these are safety issues. I'm finding that some owners fell under a recall to fix these items but I don't. I don't understand that. Do I have to kill or be killed first especially with the breaking issues? updated 10/23/07

Fuel sending unit/gas gauge light flashing empty when car is full of gas. ABS light never goes out...had recall repaired dash lights..car is in park but light on dash is in (N)..light on gear shift is dead rear winshield wiper just stopped working rubber seal around rear hatchback window dry rotted causing window to shatter and break while car was sitting in driveway. This is dangerous. Car sliding through stop light when applying brakes to stop or when sitting still car will idle and cause car to move while foot is on brakes. Humming/rattling sound coming from undercarriage of these complaints are posted on several complaint websites and they all pertain to my 1999 Rodeo as well as thousands of others. My Rodeo was purchased in 2003 and I was not aware of any recalls except for the ABS one and I learned about that from a relative who has the same vehicle. If something breaks down or stops working on hers I can expect it to occur with mine or visa versa. Something needs to be done..I will never recommend anyone to purchase an isizu Rodeo if my life depended on it. Everytime I take it to a mechanic there is a Rodeo in the garage waiting to be worked on. The mechanic shakes his head..

: the contact stated while traveling 55 mph on normal road conditions, the fuel gauge suddenly dropped down to the empty indicator. This occurred on 2 occasions and the needle usually dropped to empty a few days after filling the tank with fuel. The service dealer was contacted, and an appointment was scheduled for 12/19/06. The problem recurred on 12/10/06. The contact planned to notify the manufacturer after filing a complaint with the NHTSA. The contact encountered several complaints about this problem, and expressed concern that this was a safety issue that should be recalled.

Gasoline gauge has failed. It indicates an empty tank even when the tank has just been filled. Also the low fuel indicator is blinking. Apparently, this has occurred with numerous Isuzu Rodeos but Isuzu refuses to acknowledge the problem. Even though it occurred more than a year ago, I just became aware of this on-line complaint procedure.

The fuel gauge does not function properly on my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. Based on my research, this is a result of a defective fuel sending unit that numerous other owners of these vehicles have experienced. This should be repaired under a recall, and presents a traffic safety concern if the vehicle were to run out of fuel while driving.

Problems with the gas gauge reading incorrectly, gas light comes on and gauge shows empty when there is over a half a tank of gas. May fill up and the next day the gas tank show only a 1/4 tank will fluctuate when driving. Sometimes has trouble with rough start. Spoke with customer representative was told there were only 9 complaints listed under just fuel system however when I look up ODI numbers I get at least 20 complaints talking about the same problem listed under fuel system under different sub-categories. Each complaint has the same year and model car which doesn't seem to be a coincidence. The fuel sending unit is not a cheap repair.

Fuel gauge/sensor failure. Fuel indicator displays incorrect amount of fuel. Indicator reads that the tank is full immediately after filling, but becomes erratic at about 10 miles and then indicates an empty tank soon thereafter. Fuel light also flashes on and off periodically.

My fuel gauge has failed and I went to Isuzu dealership and the ase mechanic told me he has replaced a ton of these and it would cost $800 dollars. My 1999' Isuzu Rodeo sle fuel gauge failed giving inaccurate readings. Ven at acceleration and at turns, it will indicate a lesser reading and will even light up the orange gas pump. A 12 gallon fuel in 21 gallon tank will be indicated as empty in my car. I guess as long there's no fatalities, nobody will act on it.
