Rodeo LS V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 185,000 miles

Automatic transmission fluid leak began near front of transmission. Could not locate where. The only way to fill and check the transmission fluid level is under the vehicle through the drain bolt on the transmission case. No easy way to check it and keep it topped off. Eventually the transmission started to slip and grind then failed after running out of fluid too many times. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt once before I purchased it also.

Rodeo LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

We had always maintained the car properly, but the transmission started having problems after 50,000 miles. For long periods of time (usually weeks), each gear shift would be extremely rough, and would shake the whole car. Then, for a few weeks, the problem would go away. Then, for a few weeks, it would come back. Our mechanic didn't have a solution for us, as we had decided that a transmission rebuild would be too costly. This problem continued for the next 4 years, but for the past year ('10), the transmission (for the most part) has been shifting well.
