The contact owns a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo. The contact stated that there was a noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop, where they stated that the front and rear tie rods and wheel bearings were defective. The mechanic also discovered that the underbody of the frame was corroded, especially on the driver's side. The mechanic refused to make any repairs. The failure was related to the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number: 10V436000 (suspension: Rear); however the manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included. The approximate failure and current mileages were 117,000. Updated 8/23/12 the consumer stated there was a slow leak on the front passenger side tire. There was also a slow leak on the rear driver's side tire since the purchase of the vehicle. Updated 09/06/2012

The accident was caused by tire tread separation on the back passenger end. I was going 75 mph (the speed limit) on interstate 10 when the tread separated. I lost control of my SUV (2001 Isuzu Rodeo) and nearly rolled it a few times, ended up spinning around and going backwards through the dirt median heading into oncoming traffic. I hit a tree, which saved my life. This event could have been very catastrophic. The tire was a Bridgestone dueler 684. It was purchased 1/4/05, but it was technically 4 years old when I bought it new. The tire was actually manufactured in 2001. The rear end damage was repaired by a collision center and for fear of tire safety, I replaced all other Bridgestone tires with Michelin.

I had a blow out on my 2001 Isuzu Rodeo, causing my vehicle to go off the road to the right running into another vehicle. The seat belt came off, the airbags did not work. I sustained head injuries causing seizures, a displayed shoulder, and a fractured jaw. Due to the head injuries I was unconscious and unable to keep control of the vehicle.

Consumer had to change tires continuously from Bridgestone to Michelin, resulting in damaged tires. Consumer states Bridgestone tires were replaced with Michelin, size# 245 70rx16, dot#M3bua3cx3101, tire. The tire pressure was increased again, since tire pressure increase vehicle is very harsh and hard riding on windy days and they are wearing uneven already. Isuzu representative says this is normal for a SUV.

This Rodeo was purchased in July. After a test drive, a vibration was noticed in the steering wheel and ride of the vehicle. We were told by the salesman and sales manager that this was normal due to tire flat spots from sitting on the dealers' lot. We were told to drive the vehicle for 500+ miles and see if the problem alleviates itself. At the same time, we agreed to do this with an alignment done and the tires balanced and rotated later. We took the vehicle in on August 2, 2001 and were told that two tires had to be replaced due to the tires not being round and would not balance. We were able to get two new tires that had already been ordered fro another customer's Rodeo (same problem). The wheels were not replaced at this point, only the tires. We were told they could give us the other customer's tires, since they knew he was out of town. This was fine with us. An alignment was also done at this time. The problem was better but not good enough. A little time revealed the same problem was reoccuring and the wobble was getting worse! we took the vehicle back on August 11, 2001. We were then told that all 4 tires and wheels had to be replaced under a tsb that was out for this problem. I logged a complaint wirh Isuzu regarding the fact that I had to wait up to 10 business days for the replacement wheels and tires to arrive. My concern is that all 4 tires were bad, two which have already been replaced at this point, and I am being told that it is ok for me to drive my vehicle on the highway and tat no danger exists with these tires. I do not agree, since the entire wheel assemblies are being replaced. I will be more than happy to provide copies of repair work. To date, my wheels have not been replaced. The wheels on my Rodeo are the steel wheels, not the aluminum alloy. The complaint loged with Isuzu was not taken seriously and I was treated as inferior to the person logging my complaint. I know I am not the only one with this problem!

This vehicle has had a vibration since the day I picked it up. I was told to drive the vehicle for 1500 miles to 'round out' the tires at which point the dealership would rebalance the tires. This has been done and the problem persists. The steering column between the back of the steering wheel and the actual column emits a scraping noise. This vehicle is replacing a 2000 model that was returned to Isuzu for the same conditions. The dealer replaced a part called a 'clock spring' in the 2000 model to fix the steering noise but it was ineffective. The dealer also repeatedly rebalanced the tires and eventually replaced the tires on the 2000 model none of which corrected the problem. The vehicle is also surging under acceleration. This problem is to be addressed this week. My primary concern is the vehicles safety at highway speeds. The vibration is prevalant in the steering wheel and the body of the vehicle and doesnt seem safe. (tiresize: 245/70R16)

The tire had a complete blow out in such a way that the outside wall of the tire completely was cut out of the rest of the tire. The car was being driven on the wheel rim while I was trying to bring the car under control. The incident was reported to the emergency road service of Isuzu. The road was a straight and well maintained piece of US84 approximately 15 miles outside of brownwood Texas. (tiresize: P245/70R16)

The rightside rear tire blew out while driving on the interstate highway. There was no road hazard, clear roadway, and the driver did not strike any obstacles. There are no objects in the tire tread. Upon going flat, the driver immediately pulled over to the right side from the center lane and stopped as soon as possible. This did cause major sidewall damage due to the short ride on the deflated tire. The tire and vehicle are brand new with less than 3,000 miles. Dealer said that this was not their responsibility and sent me to the tire dealer. Bridgestone tire dealer said that due to the damage to the sidewall, he could not determine the cause of the tire failure, therefore, no warranty could be enforced. Bridgestone is the sister of Firestone which has been having major problems with tires on SUV's. this may be related"??" had this been a front tire, a major accident may have resulted. We are very concerned about the safety of the vehicle and reliability of the tires. (tiresize: P245/70R16)
