Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

This car has been a disappointment since day one. I bought this off lease from bournival Lincoln/Mercury in July 2005. Since then...first was the constant condensation of the windows...something about heater core and seals needed to be replaced. Then the check engine light kept coming on, drive 115 miles to the jag dealer and be told nothing is wrong on multiple occasions. The sun room failed and had to be replaced. When this happened the passenger front seat belt would no longer pull out-completely inoperable. Next cam the chugging, chugging, go syndrome. Ws told it had something to do with fuel sensors and oxygen sensors. Tire blow out on the highway (with kids and mother in the car). Now the bolts holding the strapping to secure the fuel tank fell out. The dealer ship tells me---not from rust---but they are alleging from some sort of valdalism--so I have to pay to have these replaced. Yup...it's been an expensive two years....$24,000 for the car, twice towed, warranty covered repair expenses +/- $4,000; uncovered repair expenses still incurring-but it's over $1,500 at last count.. not to mention numerous drives to Jaguar dealers (this means taking the day off from work)....when I bought the car, I purchased a Ford premium care extended warranty, because, as I was informed, "any Ford dealer should be able to handle the car"...untrue.

From Jan 2005 to 6/28/06 I have had four separate incidents with 2004 potenza G009 225/45R17 tires that had tread separation from sidewall. Tires installed on a 2002 Jaguar X-type (AWD). All tires were constantly maintained, rotated and balanced per Jaguar specs. Dot emh8lhc1805. All tires had between 5/32 and 6/32 of tread left and more than 25,000 miles before occurrence. Replaced one out of pocket and other three were replaced at minor charge by Bridgestone dealer (tire free (warranty) / charged for$ 45 for installation & balancing & road hazard protection). Incidents lead to extreme vibration and vehicle instability and would have lead to blow out if I had not responded immediately.

While driving over 55 mph there was severe vibration in the steering wheel. Dealer told the consumer to put different rims and tires on the vehicle. Consumer replaced the tires and rims, but the problem recurred.

Both drive shafts, fuel tank and sunroof were replaced, the sunroof malfunctioned-3 or more times, the blinkers and lights failed, tires blew out, air bag light remained on, the passenger front seat belt malfunction, trunk latch issues, heating and ac system had gone out, surge in engine on acceleration, rubbing noise in steering column, constant whining noise in engine, fuel gauge not working, odometer stopped working while on the freeway, no bright lights except when the car was shut off, interior lights remained on after the car was shut off, safety latch on console failed twice, burning smell from the engine 3 times. Problems have been ongoing since purchase of car approximately 12/2002. The rubbing noise occurred when the vehicle was turned left, the center console arm rest moved backward and forward while the vehicle was in motion, the driver's seat belt shoulder pivot made a squeaking noise when in motion, the seat belts did not retract, the air bag warning light stayed on until the key as switched off, and the turn signals were inoperative. (the dealer replaced the buckle)
