About 8 months after I got my Jeep Cherokee 2014, I had a recall done on my car. Four days later I was driving to disney world (about a 12 hour drive) when I was trying to put the gear into park when my car started jerking and wouldn't let me put the car into park. I tried to restart the car and nothing worked. Then after the 5th time it finally would go into park. I let the car rest over night and restarted it in the morning when my transmission light came on. I ended up getting it "fixed" down in flordia and had to take time and money out of the vacation to fix it. Then two years later, I got another recall done and exactly four days later the same jerking happened when I tried to put it into gear to drive. The transmission came on again. Then my mother went to pick it up from the dealership after it was "fixed" only to have the car not start for her. A week later they called to say that they replaced the transmission. I tried to tell Fiat Chrysler automobiles about the issues and get an extended warranty on the transmission but the manager has never returned my calls. I feel the car has lost it's value and is unsafe for drivers. Just wondering how long this transmission will last for.

2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude. Fwd V6. The transmission slips and has delayed engagement upon takeoff and while shifting from low speeds. Transmission also hunts for gears between 0-15 mph and will jerk car back and forth. When transmission delays engagement (pressing down gas pedal in drive but car isn't moving) it will eventually grab and spins the tires a little before going. My wife and I have had numerous close calls/near accidents due to this issue. Turning onto incoming traffic (legally) and the vehicle wont move. It can be terrifying. This mostly happens driving on city streets. I hate this car.

The transmission has an issue with jerking between shifts, both up and down. I have taken it in to be fixed at least 5 times and also a recall. It still has the problem and apparently cannot be fixed.

Transmission acting erratically. Transmission will shift hard into 2nd and 3rd gear. When coming to stop it will downshift in a rough matter. Some times it bangs but is only intermittently. The transmissions works fine on the freeway will work fine only noticeable on city driving. I have taken for repairs and software update several times to the point that I got frustrated and stop calling the dealer. The 36K warranty expired in December 2016.

The car experiences jerky shifts, is very inconsistent when it does shift, and has a lag in acceleration. It does not feel safe to drive because I can't prepare for when it will shift. If I am stopping at a light, it often times will lunge forward - which is dangerous if there is a pedestrian crossing or someone in front of me. If I am at a stop light, and accelerating, the shift between 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd is extremely slow, and then has a hard lunge forward. The dealership says they do not have a solve for it, and Jeep won't acknowledge there's a problem. The value of the car has also dropped significantly so I can't get rid of it, without being upside down on what I owe.

Vehicle has always had a lurching forward motion when it goes into gear from a stopped position. We bought it in 2015 with 14000 miles on it. In early October husband was out of town with the car and the service engine light came on. Took it to dealership and was told it needed an update to the computer system that runs the engine area. Drove for one evening and left town for a week. First time car was driven after that week vehicle service engine light was on again. Upon backing out of the driveway it lurched forward and ran into the curb. Drove vehicle home and took to the local Jeep dealership immediately. Kep overnight before they said it needed a new transmission. They kept vehicle for a week and we picked it up on a Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday evening every time we take off the car shakes and lurches getting into gear. Have an appointment to take back to the dealership on Monday.

Safety recall listed below. Notified 2 months ago. This can cause a crash without warning! I am not comfortable driving a vehicle that could cause serious bodily injury/death to myself or anyone else. VIN: [xxx] year: 2014 make: Jeep model: Cherokee limited fwd number of open recalls: 1 NHTSA recall number: Opens new window takes away from VIN lookup section> 16V529 recall date: August 22, 2016 manufacturer recall number: S55 summary: The transaxle wire harness on your vehicle may have been built with insufficient wire terminal crimp(s). This may cause an intermittent high electrical resistance in the transaxle wire harness circuit(s). A high resistance circuit(s) in this wiring harness will cause the on-board diagnostic system to set a diagnostic trouble code (dtc). When the dtc is set, the system defaults the transaxle to neutral and the customer experiences a loss of motive power. Safety risk: The loss of motive power could cause a crash without warning. Remedy: The transmission control module (tcm) must be reprogrammed with new software. The new software strategy will eliminate the transaxle shift-to-neutral condition for this issue, place the transaxle in a fixed gear limp mode and illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (mil) if a high resistance circuit is detected in the transaxle wire harness. Recall status: Recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
