The PTU failed while driving on the highway. Vehicle would not stop moving when placed in park. The loss of power put my kids, wife, and I at risk of possible death if an accident had occurred. Luckily I was able to maneuver the vehicle through three lanes of heavy traffic to pull off the highway before the car completely came to a stop. Once stopped when placed in park I went to step out of the vehicle to assess the situation to only put my family at risk again because the vehicle started rolling away. There was absolutely no warning and no warning after the fact either. The check engine or transmission light never appeared before or after. The problem has been diagnosed by a Jeep Dealer. How my vehicle doesn't fit in the W47 recall for this very issue baffles me. This issue fit that recall of the same year, make, and model to a t.

I was driving my jeep when all of the sudden it kicked out of gear and was put in park. This has happened on another occasion and the dealership told me it was likely due to the battery but now I see the recall and it fits Word for Word. What happened with my vehicle.

Beginning of this year vehicle was taken into mechanic for issues. It had rear differential, exhaust and motor mounts all repaired/replaced! The vehicle still had alot of vibration and just 3 weeks ago wouldn't start! Was towed to dealership since my machanic couldn't work on code issues that was code that came up on Diagnostic machine! Was told by dealership today that the pcm, fuel pump and battery are all faulty! There were multiple recalls since 2020 for the pcm, fuel and electrical the 2014-2020 jeep cherokees. It was taken in for the two recalls we received and wasn't repaired, was just looked at! Now we are having more issues with the vehicle! I have reported this to Chrysler, they are supposed to return my call after making claim and speaking to dealership! This vehicle has had a new engine and transmission put in by dealership in 2016 under warranty. We spent over $3000 in repairs since then to the rear differential, exhaust and engine mounts! Was told this new repair will be another $3000 for the fuel pump, pcm, and battery!

The contact owns 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that after refueling, while driving 5-10 MPH, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving after refueling the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module indicated a catalytic convertor failure due to the inner part of the catalytic converter being missing. The catalytic converter was replaced; however, while driving after refueling, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormally loud sound. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact became aware of Chrysler Campaign Number (Powertrain Control Module). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a software update. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed the software update; however, the check engine warning light illuminated a year and three months later. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 116,245.

We purchased this vehicle in 6/2020. Last year had to replace the fuel system because of the vehicle randomly stalling after filling up the tank. This happened randomly so it could have caused a life threatening situation. The cause of this stalling is fuel getting into the EVAP system, and requires replacing the fuel pump and evaporative charcoal canister to rectify. No recall on this even though numerous complaints, it costed us $1700. We now have been having issues of the vehicle hesitating when pulling into traffic and issues with the automatic gear shifting randomly since about 70,000 miles on the car. Recently it got so bad the vehicle would slow down while pressing on the accelerator. We took it into the dealership and they were able to uncover a transmission issue even though there were no warning lights or system warnings. If we didn-€™t take it in it could have caused a serious injury and accident. There are recalls on more expensive and newer models of this same model 9 speed transmissions but all Chrysler is doing for this model is doing a cheap software update that has NOTHING to do with the issue many cars are having. The below article explains the issues that Chrysler is not helping customers out at all, just putting peoples life-€™s in jeopardy to avoid paying for the transmission recall on all 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles even though it is a MAJOR safety risk. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2014-jeep-cherokees-problems-and-recalls-cover-powertrain-failures-cruise-control-malfunctions-and-faulty-airbags I am attaching their response which basically says sorry, Chrysler doesn-€™t care if the vehicle is unsafe and we don-€™t care how much money it is costing our customers to make it safe because Chrysler is making money off those repairs.

The jeep has transmission problems. MANUFACTURE DEFICT!!! 2014 cherokee limited, only 25000 miles, the transmission slips into neutral, then stalls once slowed down and requires driver to shift to park; also at red-light, dash will alert to park to shift in gear, then stalls while in traffic; both dealer and independent service center confirmed. engine light comes on, but lights and codes reset with restart. VERY Dangerous and has been a noted Recall in 2019 as a software/electrical correction, yet still occurs since recall; Jeep/Chrysler should fix or offer compensatory vehicle if unrepairable...NOT a failed transmission

My vehicle will shift roughly, sometimes surging before switching gears. This is more pronounced after refueling. Additionally, sometimes immediately after refueling, the vehicle will sputter and die when trying to pull away from the pump. Attempting to turn it back on may take a few tries before its successful. The battery light may come on, but the battery has been confirmed as not the issue. Having my vehicle shut down mid drive after fueling to where I can't steer it or move it out of the way is extremely unsafe! I just took it to the dealership. They completed a recall involving a powertrain software update, but did have any explanation for why my car would randomly die after getting gas.

Transmission, at least it is what I have been told by Jeep technicians. My vehicles transmission has been changed twice because it hard shifts and slides. It is currently doing it again and the technician stated he cannot submitted agains as it is a known issue can can only submit it to warranty if it is severe. On multiple occasions when parked and shifting to reverse, the vehicle jumps back because of the hard shift, putting me close to hitting other parked vehicles. While driving, the transmissions slides from each shift, making it extremely unpredictable in power transfer to tires. I cannot use the vehicle off-road because of this, I am concerned that it can jerk and put me in an uncontrolled and unsafe position. This is extremely frustrating as I bought the vehicle of its marketed off-road capabilities while living in Colorado. I bought the vehicle in November 2021 and the first transmission change was on December 7, 2022. The second transmission change occurred on September 1, 2022, although it was approved for service on August 7, 2022. Both times, the vehicle was in the repair shop for 7 days with no rental vehicle provided. The vehicle does not feel safe to operate with the hard shifting and jerks, it feels like the transmission is falling apart as your are driving, I only use it to work as I have little to no option. Lastly, the Jeep authorized repair technician denied to inspect the transmission on my last visit to the repair shop.

Service 4 wheel drive light was coming on intermittently. Had been for just a few days. Driving in a parking lot and all of a sudden the car slips into neutral. Dash board indicated car must be in park to change gears. So I pressed break moved gear shifter to park then drive and continued on my way. It did this several more times before I was able to get it to the transmission shop. I am just glad I wasn-€™t driving 75 on the freeway and it slips into neutral. There I was told it was the transfer case and would cost 4,000. The consumer stated the vehicle would hesitate after stopping when the vehicle was originally purchased and feels she needs to be reimbursed for the repairs.
