The engine light suddenly came on and also i found out the car starts shaking while stopping at traffic lights. Went to mechanics to see and he kept my car for whole day, he did the basic checking couldn't find anything after spending $60. He recommends me to take to another mechanics and went there and left my car for another 3 days, he calls me to update the cost that would be involved to fix it, after 3 days he calls me to say we cant still fix it as looks like there is something wrong with cylinder. spend another around $ 1000. He then recommends me to another mechanics and i left my car since 7 weeks in there and so far they cant detect the actual issues. They have been trying several things but still failing to find out the issue. i don't know how much the bill would be as he reckons something around $5 K. I am just losing hope.

I bought that car last year from Dealer on 25000. don't know what to do now. So its my suggestions, you might not go through my situations but would recommend everyone to think twice and do more research before you make a decision to buy Jeep Cherokee 2014. All the best.

Cherokee V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

Malfunction Indicator light (Check Engine Light) came on 7/1/18 2014 on my Jeep Trailhawk with only 30k miles and the problem is:

Code P0520 and needed Oil Pressure Sensor Replacement. This seems to be a common problem as I am reading a lot of complaints across the internet.

If Jeep knew there was a bad batch of oil pressure sensors on 2013/2014 Jeeps, they should have issued a replacement service recall and not just wait for the problems to arise. I am now 4 years into paying for a 38k vehicle with only 30k miles on it to find out the oil pressure sensor is a known failure item.

Any advise?

So disappointed in JEEP. Wish I'd listened to warnings from friends about the transmission issues before I bought it. I'm upside down on the loan and can't wait to get out from under it to go back to another make.

Nine days after having the battery replaced because of three warning lights, the engine light is coming back on for no reason. I have less than 200 miles left of the warranty, so I hope it is nothing, but now I am worried.

The last Jeep we had was problematic at about the same mileage and they never were able to fix it all the way even after a complete valve replacement. We suffered through it for several more years before giving up. Now . . . if this one has problem after problem like our last Jeep, we will NEVER buy a Jeep again. So frustrating . . .

Cherokee Limited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,575 miles

The check engine light was on when we arrived at the dealer. We shut the vehicle off and when they started it to check it the light wasn't on so they claimed they could not determine the error. They claim the computer doesn't retain the error codes once they are reset. At a later visit that story changed. Anyway nothing was resolved.

Cherokee Latitude 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,620 miles

I have owned three Jeep Grand Cherokees which I purchased used. Never had a problem with any of them. My son had just gotten his license so I gave him my 2004 Grand Cherokee and bought a new 2014 Cherokee. A few months ago the check engine light went on after getting gas. I tightened the gas cap and light went off. This happened a few times so I changed gas stations. Last week the check engine light went on again but It had been a week since I gassed up.

I made an appointment with the dealer to have this problem fixed as well as two more recalls. My car has 4,624 miles on it. I drive five minutes to work and it is garaged. I brought it to the dealer this morning and after a few hours got a call telling me I need a new engine because oil had been leaking inside the engine. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My car is like brand new. The dealer said they have never had this problem with a Cherokee and would replace the engine. I was in such shock it didn't occur to me to insist on a brand new engine. I'm so disgusted by this I think they should give me a new car!

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

This is an addition to my two transmission complaints...recall for tranny reflash, day after Mothers Day...transmission rough shifting was NOT alleviated at all...less than 2 weeks later CEL came on...

Dealer says it might clear, safe to drive, if light starts to flash, bring it in....hell no, I'm taking it in next week...even though I might not get it back for a month or so per everyone else's complaint...Per my other 2 tranny complaints; the transmission NEVER performed optimally...but it was one whole helluva lot better before the recall/ reflash.

Then less than two weeks later, the CEL comes on? Coincidence? I don't think so.

Update from Sep 7, 2015: Update on CEL..first I'd like to make a correction...mileage was only about 7,500 miles. OK, took it in for CEL and when they fixed that they did three or 4 other 'flashes' to rectify other issues which turned out to be to ,be among other things, the 'hacking' of the control module which can disable your vehicle while you are driving it... No one volunteered the info at the dealership they just did it...other people told me the same thing happened to them... The 2014 Jeep Cherokee Is the #1 most hacked vehicle in the world! Anyway...happy to report that since all of the flashes have been done in May, the Jeep has been a pleasure to drive... The tranny is smooth, I had it in 'sand' mode driving it on the beach last week and it handled the sand like a champ.
