During our vacation the summer of 2019, we noticed a horrible rattle / squeaking noise and narrowed it down to the panoramic roof. We pulled over to take a look but did not see anything noticeable. However, I took pictures all the way around the roof frame area so I could blow them up to take a better look. It appears the right side track appears to be different from the left. When I felt it with my fingertips, it felt loose. The is a continual problem for which I have been unable to determine a pattern.

The dealership advised me they never heard of such a problem and would not even look at it!

Contacted FCA Jeep Complaint and was advised to get a lawyer. Wasted almost a year with that situation from which FCA offered $750. WTF?!

The dealership told me sunroofs loosen up and nothing can be done to stop the squeak except replace them. Which costs thousands of dollars. Ironically enough, the vibration started only a few weeks after buying the Jeep.

Just want it fixed right. For the 2nd time moon roof squeaks from both sides above the doors of the back seat.

Update from Nov 30, 2016: vehicle is in for 3rd time for moon roof squeaks. I was told it is a Chrysler problem, again!! Rats

Update from Jan 2, 2017: Vehicle has been in 4 times. Drop it off one day and several days later I can pick it up. To date the last repair has worked. They had been removing moon roof applying a special grease, replacing roof rails. To no help. I told then it seemed like the frame for the Moon roof was making the noise. They then ordered a new frame, installed it and yea!! No noise and squeaks, for now it seems to have been repaired, Fingers crossed.

Sunroof rattling, very annoying. I could push the glass up with my hand. Dealer told me they fixed it and it was normal. They also would not service it when I needed it to be serviced because they claimed to need a specialist on hand who only works on weekdays when I was unavailable. 2 years late, still rattles. I stopped using Chapman dealership in Horsham PA, because of incompetence at the service department and lies about the cause of problems.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

The moon-roof squeaks intermittently. This can happen in the morning or any time during the day. It sometimes happens when opening the curtain, and repositioning the curtain back an inch often helps.

Opening or closing the glass panels has no effect.

The squeaks seem to come from the aft-right side of the roof.
