Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 18,000 miles

accelerated while at stop the auto on & off wasn't activated

Purchased a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, fully loaded, had jeep serviced and was advised that the computer had to have 4 upgrades, when dealer brought car out said complete it had check engine light on for sensor? they took it back and wiped out the code and light went off, since then have had the 4 wheel drive light coming on saying 4 wheel drive has been disabled but havent done anything to it to make it say that.. also have had a wreck where i rear ended a truck this morning while sitting at a stand still the car accelerated and i hit the back of the truck causing damage on both vehicles. the automatic on/ off for energy saving is a burden. i am unsure as to how or what happened but from reading other reviews seems like these jeeps have a computer issue since the car is just a moving computer from what dealer told me... the air bags didnt deploy but the tow hook on drivers side is pushed all the way in. ( makes me wonder about air bags deploying on it own now) also hook wont release so there is definetely damage underneath and bumper but unsure of what all is damaged at this point. i am very concerned about what happened and driving this vehicle for future worries of what could happen if it has a mind of its own again.. i will contact the manufacturer and see if they can explain this issue. it happens so fast without warning and unsure how it happened. but be aware there is a definite problem with these jeeps. also transmissions does shift very hard. but dealer says its normal for 9 speed transmissions to do so.

very concerned about safety with this vehicle.

Cherokee Sport

There was a transmission recall issued by Chrysler Corp for our 2015 Jeep Cherokee Sport March-April 2015 time frame. After the transmission was replaced the vehicle started Sudden Unintended Acceleration (SUA) with jerking forward while being driven. The vehicle was taken in for 5-6 repairs without resolution. Called Chrysler and opened a complaint. After multiple repairs with no resolution, Chrysler sent out a company analysts to assess the vehicle. He deemed the vehicle working in perfect order; said no issues were found. The vehicle continues to accelerate while driving, however, pressing the brakes will at this time stop the acceleration. I called Texas State Attorney General's office to file a complaint. This office suggested that I also file complaints with the following: FTC, National Highway Traffic/Safety Administration, Texas Department of Motor Vehicles and suggested that I contact an attorney. To date, Chrysler is in denial of this awful and serious problem that could possibly cause injury or death.

I was travelling to work on a main highway. I was going 62 mph. Suddenly the rpm's jumped up to 4,000 and the car was immediately going 70 mph. I slammed on the brakes so I didn't ram the car ahead of me. This scared the life out of me and I immediately called my husband. I also called Chrysler, since I have an open case with them regarding this issue. They told me to drive carefully.

I bought this car from Tri-Star in Blairsville, PA in March 2015. Right from the beginning I noticed that the car self accelerated even at low speed. The more I drive it, the more evident the problem gets. I took it to Murray Electric in Murysville, PA and I was instructed not to drive the car and to take it to the dealership ASAP. I took it to the dealership and of course, they said that they never heard of a problem in this type of car and right away they sent a salesperson to try to sell me another one for a higher price!. My car is not yet 2000 miles and the transmission is not the only problem it has: overheating and poor design that makes people hit the head at entering, plus more problems

Cherokee Lattitude 2.4L

We were SO excited to get this car. Had 46 miles on it when we got it. I started noticing that it speeds up when I start to slow down and it's getting worse and as of 4 days ago the engine light came on! Cancelled my warranty appointment yesterday because the light magically went off. This morning it REALLY sped up on my way to work and a chime went off and the light is back on. Will post what dealer says as soon as I get it checked. I'm really scared because I have two little kids. :(

What on earth is going on with the 2015 9 speed Jeep Cherokee transmission. I've been plagued with some sort of rolling/jumping/leaping when removing my foot from the brake pedal after starting. The car will drive itself without a foot on the accelerator! It's scary for sure. I've talked with the dealer, the dealer's service department and the Jeep/Chrysler corporate technical department. They did one computer upgrade - which did not remedy the problem. It's been ongoing. The car will thrust forward or backward depending on the gear without any intentional driver acceleration. This is AWFUL and in my opinion, UNSAFE.

Update from Feb 6, 2015: THIS IS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM - HOWEVER, SOMEONE LISTED IT AS AN ENGINE PROBLEM. DEFINITELY DUE TO THE GOOFY, 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION.
