Look, I'm not asking for a new car or anything asinine. I simply want the PTU repaired on my car that is covered by the X80 extended warranty. The best the local Jeep dealership will do is split the cost of a new PTU. Based on the safety recall notice provided me by my local mechanic, this should be covered - parts and labor. Here I am, three weeks later, still dealing with the same BS.

We bought this pre-owned 2015 Jeep Cherokee Latitude 4x4 on 11/09/20. This is our 5th Jeep so we are very familiar with the vehicle. Upon delivery @ 48000 miles, it would completely stop when at a red light, or waiting to make a turn. Scared us to death as the month prior had been hit head on and totalled our 2014 Jeep Cherokee, and was hospitalized with multiple injuries. After reading the manual, we saw it was the stop/start and could be disabled by pressing the orange highlighted A icon. I did this multiple times but was always uneasy in traffic.

It said in manual this was an emission thing initiated in CA to cut down emissions in traffic. Well, we live in a mountainous community in northern AZ and do not have the traffic issues as a large city might. Read ways to disable it and followed the instructions and it worked for awhile, then same issue again. So we had it permanently disabled at our local Jeep garage - no issues at all since.

BUT NOW, we have no gas when trying to reverse, press pedal all the way down, nothing - in a bit it will slowly move then seem to be OK until we need reverse again - so dangerous and scary after the accident we had been in. It is currently sitting at the Jeep garage waiting for help - we purchased this from VROOM, as we were not able to physically go to a dealership to look for another vehicle after our accident. Called VROOM today and complained, as they should have been aware of this problem as well. We love the Jeep and hope the garage will find a solution, but we will get rid of it if this issue continues. The stress after the accident is just too much and to feel safe driving again. I will update after we get the Jeep back with the cost and solution.

I had heard about the Jeep transmission problems. I thought we got lucky. We have a lot of miles on it. Most complaints were on low mileage Jeeps. Nope, we got nailed. Way too may issues with this transmission. We will be getting rid of it.

One afternoon as I was stopping on an off-ramp from the interstate, I began to inch out to as to see clearly. As I did so, a car approached and I realized I had pulled out slightly into oncoming traffic. I attempted to shift into reverse, but nothing happened. It took 5-7 sec. before the transmission actually engaged. Luckily, the oncoming car was able to swerve into the median instead of into me.

Went to local dealer later in the week and described incident. I received a call later in the day from the dealer saying the transmission is composed of so many electronics, sometimes it takes several seconds to catch up to the car and overall, there was nothing that could be done about it.

I e-mailed Chrysler about the issue, and all I heard from them is that they stand behind the assessment of the their certified technicians and to see them for all of my problems.

Needless to say, this was not a very encouraging answer. So, I have just been dealing with the issue and being patient with the transmission.

Between this and my 4wd issues, I am just looking forward to getting rid of the car soon.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6 24 Valvue4 4 X 4

  • Automatic transmission

I had this Jeep in several times because I would be at a stop traffic light, 4 way stop but a complete stop and when I would get ready to go, nothing. I almost got hit 2 times because when the Jeep decided to lurch forward, was not the time for me to go. The time from when I tried to go to the car lurching was seconds, you almost did not have time to process and therefore stop the Jeep from entering the intersection.

I had surgery and I had to have someone drive me around one day, and did the same thing but if we had continue to drive it would have gotten worse..

I do not know if it was the transmission. After I almost got hit the second time, again I took it in, said here it is, will pick it up when it is fixed, got my loaner, 5 weeks later, I picked it up.

They kept saying over and over and over, nothing wrong with it, no errors are showing up.

When I picked it up I asked did you find something wrong with the transmission. They said Jeep would not let them open it up to see if they could find the problem. They told me they have never been told if or what the problem was.

I am not having the same problem but am having serious problems again with engine, transmission, have not idea. that is my next complaint, which they will be getting this vehicle in 2 days.

On vacation in Pa. very concerned I might be stuck 200 miles from my home. Not very confident with vehicle. My wife uses it most of the time. Bought new so we would have dependable ride. I have more confidence in my 2004 Tahoe with over 100,000 miles on it. Do I trade it before warranty is up or buy expensive extended warranty? Not a choice I should need to make with 15000 miles on this vehicle.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission

230pm - Vehicle in reverse and backing up - the transmission stopped like I hit the curb. Got out and checked, but was not at the curb, nor was anything blocking the tires

750pm - Vehicle in drive - would not move. Verified I was in drive, nor that I was in park. Placed vehicle in park, then back to drive - transmission then responded

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,800 miles

Put vehicle in reverse on multiple occasions - vehicle's transmission would not engage and move backwards. Put transmission in drive, then in reverse again and finally transmission would engage and move.

Took to dealership for this issue, along with several other complaints for this vehicle - nothing done to address it.
