AFTER READING THE FMCA FORUM, AND NOTIFICATION FROM JEEP / FCA OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION S13 FLAT TOW OWNER ADDENDUM CARD AND NEED FOR INSTALLATION OF PART # 68321424AA ACCESSORRY KIT TO ENHANCE FLAT TOW PERFORMANCE, I HAVE CHECKED WITH MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME TODAY (05/11/2016) THAT THE ABOVE PART IS NOT IN PRODUCTION AS OF TODAY, AND WHEN IY GOES IN PRODUCTION, THAT THE CUSTOMER WILL BE CHARGED $201.00 FOR PART, NOT SURE ABOUT COST OF INSTALLATION, BUT I SEE A LABOR OPERATION # 08-90-77-93 INSPECT 0.2 HOURS AND LABOR OPERATION # 08-90-77-94 FLAT TOW INSTALLATION 1.2 HOURS. FCA/JEEP SHOULD PROVIDE THE PART AND INSTALLATION AT NO CHARGE TO CUSTOMER. AND WHY ISN'T THIS PART IN PRODUCTION YET? THE SERVICE BULLETIN # 08-022-16 WAS ISSUED FEBRUARY 24, 2016 AS A rapid response transmittal (rrt) 16-022. IT ALSO STATES THAT ALL REPAIRS ARE REIMBURSABLE WITHIN THE PROVISIONS OF WARRANTY.

Update from May 21, 2016: i went to the dealer i purchased the vehicle from , and after discussion between me, the dealer and fca/chrysler/jeep care center, the accessory kit to enhance flat tow performance was installed at no charge as a warranty item. i have received the addendum card and and an additional card with additional more detailed instructions, the card it titled "mopar cherokee flat tow user guide" card was provided by the installing dealer. the additional card has a date of 02/12/16 on it and the number K6862570. i was also provided with a 10 Amp fuse that the card states to install when flat towing in the fuse holder next to the Power Distribution Center. it also states to remove the fuse if the vehicle sits for an extended period of time, like overnight, to reduce battery drain and to reinstall the fuse before continuing to tow. the additional card also recommends that a battery charger/maintainer is used while the vehicle is in tow mode to prevent complete battery drain for system activivation longer than 3 hours. this is a much more complicated and intensive procedure to flat tow than we were aware of when we purchased this vehicle. a last note, the part number installed is # 68321424 "AB", which is different that the same number on the TSB ending with "AA". not sure if this means anything or not, time will tell i guess. will be following with the fca/chrysler/jeep care center next week and will bring this to their attention.
