It just started jerking when it shifts into another gear. So far it happened about 3 times. Last time was pretty hard bang and pause while shifting.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 38,500 miles

The transmission RPMs increases but the vehicle did not move forward when I was in traffic.I did get nervous because i thought I might get rear ended. It has also slammed into gear when taking a turn. To describe the feeling, "it feels like you get hit from a vehicle from behind. When i took it home and put it into park, the transmission rolled backwards before hitting the park position. Its like you are driving a very old vehicle that is worn out and shouldn't be parked on a hill without a tire stop/chuck.

Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

This is the absolute shittiest transmission I have ever had. When pulling out in traffic, not sure if I’m going to go or get hit in the ass. 2nd to 3rd shifts hard at times and sometimes it feels like it just slips into 3rd as if I was driving a manual and was riding the clutch. I have had the firmware updated and felt the same with no change to 2nd to 3rd shift. I hope they get a solution fast sense they didn’t have any problem taking my 40,000 bucks fast!! First time Jeep owner and last and last time Jeep owner!!

Cherokee Latitude 2.4L V4

  • Automatic transmission

Transmission hangs in lower gears constantly, or it will jerk through the gears. Multiple times I have pulled into traffic trying to cross traffic and the vehicle acts like it is in neutral, EXTREMELY dangerous. After it shoots to around 2500-3000 rpms it slams into gear. I have taken it back to the dealership 3 times now and all I get is they cant get it to replicate the problem, which is crap. The loaner vehicle they gave me to drive while they were looking at mine was a 2015 Jeep Cherokee, IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS! When I told the tech's that I had the problems in the rental car, I was told by one of the people that worked there that they drove a Cherokee and it just shifts like that and it was supposedly "Normal". I guess I, or a member of my family, has to get into an accident before they will fix it.

This is a continuation from the first time the transmission let me down. It has been slipping. I notice every time it does and I don't know what to do. I am older and don't have the time or the inclination to deal with this. I want out. I signed a contract of 8 years for this car. I thought it would be my last car. What can I do?

Cherokee

  • Automatic transmission
  • 100 miles

I am now on my third Cherokee and all hesitate from a dead stop or will not back up inclines. My first 2015 was bought back by Chrysler after replacing the transmission, computer, wiring harness and throttle sensor. My second (replacement) 2015 did the same thing from day one so they ordered me a 2016. It did the same thing the first week I owned it. I just falls on its face sometimes when trying to accelerate from a stop. Selling dealer told Chrysler they do not want to work on it any more so I am taking it to an out of town dealer on Monday. This is a safety hazard. My father owned a Chrysler dealership for 45 years but this is my last Chrysler product. They need to acknowledge the problem and fix it before someone gets killed.
