Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

My Jeep Commander keeps stalling for no apparent reason. I had electrical issues with my Jeep 2009 Commander 2 years ago and now I get the oil pressure light warning and then the car stalls for no apparent reason. The Jeep dealership doesn't know what is wrong with the car and have had it for 4+ days to try and fix the issue. I am concerned that this could happen at any speed and would put my family (including my 18 month old son) at risk. I hope you pay attention to this complaint and provide a solution for this make and model. The contact owns a 2009 Jeep Commander. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the fwd warning indicator illuminated. In addition, the transmission failed to shift into the fwd low range. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three separate occasions where the drive controller was reflashed each time. There was a recall associated with the failure under NHTSA campaign id number 13V175000 (electrical system, power train). The vehicle was not repaired because the remedy part was on a massive back order. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Approximately 3 months after purchasing my Jeep Commander, it stalled with no warning. All the trucks lights lit up and the power steering would not work. I was able to start it back up and drive. I took it to the dealer and they were unable to help me as they could not recreate the issue. Since then it has happened an additional 2-3 times with the dealership still unable to help me. All times the truck has stalled out and I have been able to restart and drive away. The last time being in September of 2012 while driving on a freeway at approximately 65 mph.

2009 Jeep Commander - start car and able to remove key - car will continue to operate/run as normal without key in vehicle. Also key fob will get stuck in the ignition and not come out. This has been occurring for about 2 weeks. This happens on a daily basis. Vehicle has been to dealership to fix advised wire model issue. $700 to repair not covered under warranty - however is a safety hazard and vehicle should not be driven.
