Transmission died at just over 200k. Worthless POS, I will never buy another CVT again in my life. Jeep knows about the issues with them and did nothing to fix the problem.

This Jeep is the worst POS I have ever owned. Looked like a pristine vehicle when we bought it from Northland P C here in Prince George. They said it had been checked over completely and was a-ok!!! That's a laugh!! IF I didn't feel like crying, that is!!! Problems under warranty, the for 2nd year we had an extended warranty that cost us $2200 approx. We had ball joint, bearing, tie rod ends, plus all the recalls, so definitely paid up to the max. of the extended warranty.

Now 5 years later, we had to get a new transmission put in. Then we had to pay extra for the computer up-date so the transmission would work properly, then a bill of $5700. became an extra $262.00 so all together it is $5962. fix for a 2007 Jeep COMPASS that is probably worth $5961.00 at the most!

Once bitten, twice shy! I have had Plymouths since 1970 and Chrysler wagons. It will be after Hell Freezes over before I ever buy a DAIMLER-Chrysler product. The transmission must be made with rubber bands! IF YOU HAVE MONEY TO BURN, THEN BUY A DC PRODUCT, IF NOT, BUY ANYTHING ELSE!

Compass 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 125,000 miles

When I first bought the Jeep 2 years ago, it would jump like it was skipping gear. I took it to the dealership several times only for them to tell me nothing was wrong with it. Then last week it got much worse. When starting to accelerate, it seems to act like it is in neutral and will not move, the RPM's go very high. I took it in to flush the transmission as that is the only thing you can do other than replace it. Of course, this did not help any. It does it fairly often.

The transmissions for this car, being a CVT, are very expensive. I will never again purchase a Chrysler made vehicle...EVER!
