The power locks are shaped in a way that if you have your arm resting on it, it will pull your arm skin in and leave a welt and a bruise. I was resting my arm and it automatically locked, pinching my arm so hard that I had a welt and bruise....this also has happened to my husband.

Latches/locks/linkages - the pop down did not show this category so I used other the door latches will not work due to failing inner plastic housing. All four doors are in some condition of cracking and failure. One latch will not work at all, thus the door cannot be opened from the inside of vehicle. It is a serious safety issue. There are many complaints on this issue that have been filed. Chrysler should immediately recall the vehicles and properly repair them.

The interior door handles are breaking off as a result of weak material, this problem is widespread for Jeep owners throughout the us, and abroad, this is a major safety concern for potential victims of a crash, or even worse a fire or a water evacuation as it is next to impossible to safely exit the vehicle without the support of an operational door handle.. there is most certainly other complaints regarding this issue, the edmunds forum has an extensive complaint list for this issue, and it's not just the 05 models.. the dealerships are offering a fix for $700 per door, please look into this problem before someone is killed as a result if no has died already. This is in regards to 05-08 models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee interior door handles.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I really have a concern to whom or where I could file a claim with a problem with my interior door handles. The reason why I'm complaining is that all the 4 interior door handles cannot by opened from the inside as usual because all of them are broken and with the plastic cracked, made in pieces and holes where the plastic has been missing. Most of the time I have or the passengers have to open the door from outside. Please help me in this or give me some advice. What I have to do or where I could find information to replace them. Thanks

I have an 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and all 4 interior door handles started with hairline cracks that have advanced into major cracks and pieces of the plastic missing where the interior door handle is located. Recently, 2 days ago- the back passenger handle completely came off and now is inoperable. There is no way to exit the vehicle from the inside of that affected door. I am certain that all my door handles will eventually follow suit and I will have no operable doors in the vehicle. This is a safety issue and should be addressed as such. This is not cosmetic. All 4 interior door handle panels need to be replaced. The door handles are not secure and will continue to crumble until they are not usable anymore. Since this is a known issue- when is Jeep going to start replacing their broken manufactured parts?

My vehicle has 40,000 miles, immaculate condition except for the door handles and their structures around them. The drivers door is barley excitable. Sometimes I have to roll the window down to get out.(how embarrassing, to be a top of the line, showroom quality; still ; vehicle). We bought it new in November 2004. Have been so happy with it until 2 months ago. The passenger and rear passenger handles are cracked as well. Please help me, I'm just sick about it.

Grand Cherokee 6-cyl

  • 65,000 miles
Good afternoon. Within the past 24 months, all 4 of my door handles (interior) have had hair line cracks that have developed into full breaks on the door handles causing safety concerns for myself and my children should we be in an emergency and be unable to get out of the car. I had purchased an extended warranty on my Jeep (7 years or 70,000.00) miles and when I had taken it in to our authorized dealer, they informed me that it was not covered. I have received a quote to fix this and was informed that they need to replace the entire door panel as the handle itself is not a part in itself, which will cost over $2000 for parts and labor. My vehicle is in excellent shape except for this.

All 4 door handles have broken apart from the door panel, and after a quick google search and looking at NHTSA website, it is a very common problem. Would be incredibly unsafe if you needed to exit the vehicle in a hurry.

Normal door use, door handles cracking then breaking. Worried about safety. Unable to exit door in an emergency. Would have to be let out. Nothing done to repair. Three out of the four are broken. Jeep will not recall or repair. Only way to exit vehicle is to be let out from exterior.

All interior door handles on my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited are broken or cracked. This is a safety hazard in case of a fire the backseat occupants would not be able to exit the vehicle. There are thousands of other Cherokee owners voicing this same complaint on youtube. Jeep says its regular wear and tear and charges close to $600 per door for a new panel to fix this problem. This should be a recall!

I have a Grand Cherokee 2005, I purchase used less then 5 months ago. The passenger door open handle frame started to brake up to a point that broke the frame. Went to the dealer where I purchase the told me that I need to replace the entire door panel which cost me over 600 dollars. The vehicle has less then 60 thousand miles... but since pass the 6 years it is not cover under the warranty. I am afraid to buy another door panel pay 600 dollars and break again. I would like to Jeep to step up and help customers that like Jeep cars and have problems like this... after looking online I notice that I am not the only one. Please help!
