My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited will not start sometimes. Everything else will seem to be working fine, but I go to start my car and I get a click, but no crank. The battery, alternator, starter, solenoid have all been tested, and do not seem to be the problem. I have found many other Jeep owners that have had the same problem.

Grand Cherokee

My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited will sporadically lose a portion of its electrical power. It can be restored by stopping the vehicle and restarting the engine. It never loses the radio nor the "P, R, N, D" on the odometer, but it always loses the remainder of the odometer, the turn signals and the HVAC system. The Jeep dealer is unable to repair the vehicle.

Vehicle stalls at random, and looses power steering capability, can cause a crash on windy roads. Very scary. Has been to dealer multiple times in Arizona and has not been able to fix. They tried to fix it under warranty and under extended warranty from Chrysler. Also when vehicle stalls looses power, can't immediately open windows or doors. Doors on this vehicle also interior handles all were broken prematurely right after warranty expired at 48000 miles. This second problem is so common that dealer doesn't have part in stock, factory back order and Jeep won't fix it. This second problem is a safety issue as well because can't open door, with handle from inside in AZ 110 F can be deadly, or during a crash or fire

Vehicle stalls or loses power while driving. Error code P2101 limits rpms and performance and also causes problems with the electronic stability program. Replaced throttle body twice, new egr valve, PCM re flashed and same problem. If you wiggle the two back plugs going into the ECM the P2101 code pops up every time. Vehicle is a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited 4WD with A5.7L hemi and only has 87000miles. Huge safety concern when it stalls or loses performance while you are running 80 mph on the interstate.

Grand Cherokee 4WD 8-cyl

  • 50,000 miles
In cold weather (anything below approximately 30F) all instrument panel indicator lights light up, the speedometer and tachometer needles drop to zero, as do the fuel and engine temperature gauges. The reverse assist indicator lights in the tailgate also light up. There is a clicking sound in the dashboard. The engine continues to run, but the ABS service required instrument panel indicator light does stay lit up. This is an everyday occurrence in cold weather, and starts happening 10-12 minutes after starting the engine. The vehicle needs to be brought to a full stop and the engine turned off and then on again before it stops happening. Until stopping and restarting, it just keeps on occurring. A quick search of the internet reveals that this is a common problem with various year models of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Chrysler dealership simply pleads ignorance after charging me several hundred dollars to 'fix' a loose connection under the driver's seat. An electrical problem of this nature poses a definite electrical fire hazard. Do we need to wait for that before taking action or can we be proactive?

When driving home at night at approximately 65 miles per hour all the dashboard warning lights came on, then the dashboard went blank and shortly after that the headlights went off. After hitting the brakes the dashboard and headlights came back on, the headlights were on auto. I have researched the internet and it appears that Jeep has a problem with this on their 2005 Jeep and is a serious problem that could cause serious injuries or deaths if not fixed.

I filed a compliant earlier about my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The cd number is 10374691. I will like to update that compliant. I have had the ignition replaced, the computer replaced and they did not fix the problems that I incurred in my previous compliant. The dashboard warning lights all came on again last night as I was driving down the road. This is a serious problem and the dealer has no idea how to fix this problem.
