The vehicle's gauges will turn off while driving randomly. The speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge will all zero out for unspecified amounts of time. Sometimes 10 seconds, other times until the vehicle is started back up. This occurs when the vehicle is in motion. So, is very dangerous. Sometimes it causes the car to completely shut off and come back on. While shut off, the car sounds like it is struggling to continue its forward progress. This happens occasionally. Once the car corrects itself, the check engine light appears. After starting the car 2-3 times, the misfire corrects itself. I did a previous report related to the air bag light is on, but not sure if it is related with the same electrical problem.

During routine visits to my neighborhood supermarket, I've noticed while driving the RPM meter was going up and down at a stand-still. Now the vehicle was maintenance regularly and I have had issues before I've replaced the egr valve, throttle position sensor, spark plugs, PCV valve, automatic transmission oil cooler, A/C compressor even replaced the crankshaft position sensor. The truck also seems to lack power either that being an old software that it is using or the overall drivetrain is just abysmal. There also seems to be a loud thud that comes from directly under the vehicle when engaging P R N & D. either the bushings are worn or the driveshaft is worn. The truck has been multi point checked at a local cdj dealership and it passed. Also the ignition switch was replaced on a recall. Going at low rpms, I also noticed that when going from 15-30 mph there seems to be a delay in travel as the truck will seem to be lagging or wants to slow down when my foot isn't on the accelerator. When in motion, going around 60-80 mph, the vehicle seems to have a moderate shake as in it vibrates from the undercarriage into the cabin area. It will feel like you're on a rollercoaster and the vehicle is just rumbling down the road. It feels safe at times, but when the 'service 4WD' light appears it becomes almost frightening to drive the truck as it requires more attention then any other vehicle I've encountered. Also going back to the lag, you'll hear a chain-like sound as if the differential has an issue. I've gotten most of the front-end replaced: Tire-rods, ball-joints, cv-shafts/axles, struts, stabilizer links and more. Now when turning the truck, there seems to be a lack of power as well. I had the battery and alternator tested and they both came back good. I find it hard to believe that internally the truck just wasn't meant to hold up.

The contact owns a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While driving at unknown speeds, the contact looked through the rearview mirror and noticed metal debris falling from underneath the vehicle. The contact pulled the vehicle off the roadway to inspect underneath it and noticed that the skid plate under the fuel tank was bent and rotting away. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously at the dealer (bob richards Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram 1666 jefferson davis hwy, graniteville, SC 29829 (855) 984-5458) for power steering replacement and transmission inspection. While the vehicle was on the lift for the transmission inspection, the dealer's mechanic noticed that the skid plate was damaged, which could have been a fire hazard with a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken back to bob richards Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (1666 jefferson davis hwy, graniteville, SC 29829 (855) 984-5458) where it was diagnosed that the skid plate was gone and needed replacement. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repairs due to the less expensive cost. The contact also stated that the vehicle was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 14V438000 (electrical system), but the failure continued and the ignition would inadvertently turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The contact believed that the failure was related to the wiring harness and not the ignition switch. When the vehicle was started and the engine was turned off, it restarted itself seconds later. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

Started December 2013. When cold outside, Jeep won't downshift. Going about 40mph & Jeep stays at 3,000rpm's (or higher). When at stop sign/red light & I try to go it revs to 3000rpm's but only goes about 10mph. When it does finally reach 30mph-40mph it won't down shift. I have almost been rear ended several times. Taken to independent mechanic last year & put $700 into it. Was fine all spring & summer but yesterday was the first day the temps dropped into the 30's & it has started all over again. I cannot afford to go through this all winter again & cannot afford to keep dumping money into this Jeep.

A year and a half ago I was on my way back home from a half an hour drive from town when I decided to stop at my parents house to get a drink. I wasn't inside for less then ten minutes, when I went to leave my Jeep would not start at all. After a half hour later looking everything over I did notice the fuel pump fuse was melted and blown. I was asked bye american Chevrolet dealership if I had something plugged into my cigarette lighter that could of blown it. I've been a mechanic for 11 years now and I've never known to see the fuel pump fuse ran to other components meaning interior outlets. Now a half year later I have been having problems starting my Jeep at times and having no power to the motor at all. I want to get rid of this Jeep. Now I had a recall on the neutral safety switch and just today I get another recall for the ignition switch. I keep having axel popping sounds out of the front passenger side and I'm fed up with this Jeep.
