2002 Jeep Liberty was being towed behind motor home, alerted by passing motorists I pulled over and got out of the rv. Smoke was poring out of the Liberty fire trucks arrived just as flames were shooting out of engine compartment..they managed to free the Jeep from the motor home and used fire hoses on the Jeep..Jeep is a total loss..as yet no explanation for cause of fire.
Our 2002 Jeep Liberty limited with less than 1500 miles caught fire on the right side and proceeded to burn completely. My 5 year old son was in the passenger seat. By the time we saw the smoke and fire, he tried to get out but the door was too hot to open. I grabbed im, opened the drivers door and ran for safety. We were turning around on a gravel road and had entered some lite mud and lite, wet grass beside the gravel road and we were pulling a brand new very lite trailer with three small dirt bikes on it. The fire was so hot that the new trailer hitch melted and was fused to the trailer neck. My 5 year old son's bike which was on the right side of the trailer was burned and melted to the frame. My son and I were fortunate to get out alive.
