Driving down street with no stop signs out of corner of eyes I saw a silver car speeding through a stop sign luckily I saw it early and slammed on my brakes, we hit very hard I hit steering wheel my passenger was injured too, my question is im reading that 2002 Jeep airbags go off easily why didn't mine go off, I bought the car when it was 1 year old but never checked if it had any accidents, its suppose to have airbags in the front and passenger seat, could the dealer have sold me a defective Jeep. The other driver was speeding causing to hit very hard, why didn't the airbag deploy which would have saved me from hitting the steering wheel (I cant remember what else I hit all I know is I was taken in ambulance to emergency room my passenger drove to emergency room cause she didn't want to be put on as board she has a plate in her hip we are both 64 years old. If my car was defective when I bought it in 2003 I need to do something about it. Im reading that those 2002 airbags go off very easily why didn't mine. [xxx].[xxx] bought car in 2003 from royal gate Dodge ellisville mo. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

We were traveling southbound on I75 at a speed of only approximately 15mph due to a car accident ahead of us. All of sudden my car dropped and I heard a scrap of metal against asphalt. I slowly pulled car over to center median and got my children to the center of the guardrails to keep them safe. Upon expecting vehicle, I noticed that the wheel on the passenger front side of the vehicle was turned away from the car, the molding was detached and the metal that holds the wheel in place was sitting on the roadway. We had to wait for over 3 hours for a tow truck due to needing a tow truck that had a lift, not a flatbed. By the time the tow truck arrived, the dealership was closed and we had to be towed to a repair shop that could have the repairs completed for us by Saturday afternoon. It turned out to be the ball joint nut fell off of the bolt that holds it in place. The entire ball joint needed to be replaced as well as lubricated. The repair person checked the other side and suggested we take to have inspected, as it did not have a cotter pin to hold the nut onto the ball joint assembly. The total cost for the replacement was $240. Because of our speed, no one was hurt. Due to the facts known about the Jeep Liberty, I was thankful we were not traveling at the posted speed limit of 70mph or we would have had a vehicle turn over and possible injuries or death. I have photos as well as receipts showing this issue.

There are currently 3 recalls on my Liberty. I have made multiple attempts to get service for these recalls from bcp Jeep dealer in smyrna, Delaware to no avail. I am told over and over that the parts are on back order and we'll contact you when they are available. I have a recall on my air bags-they may deploy driving down the road. My air bag light has been blinking for years, which is a symptom of this recall. I also have a part on my suspension that may break due to rust. That recall is 11 years old and still not fixed. Now I have a recall on the fuel tank, which may burst into a ball of flames in a fender bender. I am currently driving a death trap and cannot just go trade this vehicle in. I want Jeep to take responsibility for these recalls and fix them. I am sick and tired of them giving me the run around. I cannot give you exact dates of when I contacted bcp. I have called them many times over the years. I also tried to contact the Jeep dealer in dover, Delaware and spoke to a very rude individual who was no help to me.

I just got off of the highway and was heading to the gas station. Made the right turn and the vehicle on the right side jerked to the ground and hit hard. Put it in park and got out of the vehicle and checked the tires to see if one was blown. Noticed fender above front passenger side tire was off and my ball joint arm was on the ground. The lower ball joint came completely off. It was not rusted and was well lubricated. Had to pay for a tow to haul it to my parents house. I need to know if Chrysler is going to repair my vehicle.

While attempting to park to get gas, turned the steering wheel and heard a strange noise. My husband was outside of the Jeep and noticed that something was hanging fromthe right front tire. Had it towed to nearest auto shop and was told that the upper control arm and lower ball joints had broken. Had it repaired. Called the Chrysler recall center and was told that there was a recall on the lower ball joints. We were then instructed to get the original invoice and receipt to prove that the repairs were done. We were told to call back to receive instructions on where to fax the papers. Called back later that day to get a fax number and was told that we could not be reimbursed because we didn't take it to a Jeep dealership. We were told that we had not called and talked to anyone earlier and that we could not be reimbursed. After staying on phone and on hold for about 30 minutes, the representative gave more instruction on information to send to the Chrysler recall assistance center. I have gather my information and voiced my concerns. I was told to mail my information and that it would take up to 60 days for a decision to be made. We are not trying to get over on anyone. Just imagine if I was on the interstate going 70 mph with my kids and husband in the car and the joints broke. The chrsyler corporation will be dealing with a lot more then a $1000 repair bill. I feel that if there are recalls on these vehicle, everyone should be notified and it be corrected before some one gets hurt or loose a life.

I began having problems with the electrical system in August. Headlights flicker on and off at will, as well as interior lights. Passenger side headlamp won't come on at all now and interior lights continue to flicker. While pulling into my driveway, passenger side front tire completely separated from the vehicle, leaving me speechless. We have been the only owners of this vehicle and weren't notified of any recalls. Hoping we can get this repaired soon......

Just purchased vehicle, told by local dealer in early July that there was a recall on lower ball joints, with a national back order on parts, after completing repair 9/24, they stated it needs new steering knuckles at $1094. On Tuesday 9/25 said it was ready to pick up, I asked if they solved the "air bag" light being on, they said it would be a few more days. They called this morning (9/28) and said they can not give me the vehicle back because the ball joints are now falling out. I asked "since I drove it in, why after you recall repair is it not drive able? they said safety reasons. So now I have a Jeep being held hostage, with still no answer for the "air bag" light to be on. Something is wrong with these models.
