Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

While driving, the sunroof motor assembly suffered a catastrophic failure while closing. The plastic rail assembly made a loud cracking sound and the glass wedged firmly against the roof, half open. This occured shortly after my replacing all 4 door window regulators (for the second time) due to what can only be described as negligence in the engineering design of the plastic carrier assembly that cannot support the load of the window as it is intended to. The failure to properly design these components has led to the windows falling into the door unexpectedly while driving, each time causing an unnerving distraction to me as a driver, and unnecessarily endangered myself and the general public in the vicinity when these events occurred. It appears there are countless instances of this issue being described on line, and a recall needs to occur.

Rear driver side passenger window literally fell into the door for no apparent reason. The window now has to be taped up continuously and the window falling down can be a hazard and dangerous of kids in the back. Not to mention this is a very large and common problem with this model. Jeep/Chrysler needs to recall this defect in workmanship and parts a to make sure the windows just don't fall down into the door. This is not a result of abuse just lousy parts and design and workmanship. Its dangerous and needs to be recalled. Google the problem and see how many thousands have complained. Then think about those that have not complained.

The window motor regulators fail extremely often--on average, one fails every 6 months. This sometimes happens while driving, and the window crashes down into the door. It is extremely distracting to hear the window fall while you are driving, the sudden thud could distract the driver enough to cause a crash, and any children or pets in the car are not only exposed to the elements, but are at risk of falling out of the vehicle. Other times, the window falls while the car is parked and the car is open for the world to enter. I have spent thousands of dollars on window motor regulators for this vehicle. I purchased it used in February 2009, the first window motor regulator failed less than 90 days later and one has failed every 6 months since. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge my requests or rectify the situation, despite a dozen mechanics having told me that this is a known defect.
