The driver side window and the window behind the driver had to be taped in place. I suspect that the other 2 windows will fail at some time in the future.

I purchased the Jeep Liberty with only 16 miles on it in July 2007. Officially this is the 8th time the windows have failed. Three times each of the back windows and one each on the front windows. Whenever the weather changes from hot to cold weather the plastic parts fail and the window drops down into the door while either parked or driving. I do not use the windows at all but they still break. I am negotiating with Chrysler as I write this complaint as I want them to not only fix the window but use an assembly that will not break. Even though I have the "service advisory" for the lift plate to be repaired free of charge to me I am tired of them putting in the same part they already know and have acknowledged will fail again. I hate the fact that I was talked into buying "american". Every time a window fails I have to take time off work and rent a car while the repair is in progress. One of the eight times I was on vacation and had to lose 2 days to get the car window up and fixed so I could drive home on the freeway....a safety hazard not to mention my belongings were stolen while the car was parked overnight. The "fine point" of regular vs. lift plate sucks as far as coverage. Never ever had any windows on a car break on their own and eight times is way over the top of "tolerable"...I'm planning on selling the car without telling the new owner and feel like I'd be a cheat not disclosing the real reason to sell the car. Jeep needs to get a replacement assembly for all 2007 Liberty cars that will not break...RECALL NOT A SERVICE ADVISORY!!!

BOUGHT THE 07 LIBERTY USED HAD IT 3 MOS AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN IN THE DEAD OF WINTER IN ND [-15 DEGREES WITHOUT WIND CHILL] HAD TO TAKE DOOR PANEL OFF AND PULL WINDOW BACK IN PLACE THEN USED SPRAY FOAM TO HOLD IT. 4 MOS LATER THE PASS SIDE WINDOW FELL HALF WAY DOWN. I CANT BELEIVE THEY HAVE NOT RECALLED THIS AS IT IS AN OBVIOUS DEFECT WITH SO MANY JEEPS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WILL NEVER EVER EVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER OR JEEP VEHICLE AGAIN. Called Chrysler Jan 9 to report problem before diagnoses; although, I was aware before purchasing used in Oct 2011. Previous owner had no issues. Customer service was useless as I stated regulator and rep came back with "there are no known issues for this". I was incredulous as it was apparent from googling (which I suggested rep try). I asked to speak to supervisor but was told 'supervisor doesn't take calls'. Then I asked how to escalate my complaint and was told I couldn't as this was a far as it would go. I then went to website to register complaint and mentioned that US covered with extended warranty. Received reply on Jan 10 explaining that extended warranty covered Power Window Lift but I had said regulator. Took in to dealership and got call back saying regulator (ie motor with wire) that is not covered and will cost me $230 CDN tomorrow. If this is a well known/documented issue, why is it not covered?

I purchased my Liberty new in 2007 and as of 8/29/11 I have had the window fall into the door for a 7th time! had problems the day I left the dealership but they said it just needed grease. had a window fall intot he door without warning at tjhe start of a snowy ski day in the mountains with the car parked along a roadside. Try driving 65 mph in 25 degree wetaher with an open window! Driver's side window has failed 2x (6/07, 5/10, Rear driver's side has failed for the 3rd time (9/07, 8/10, 8/11), and each other window only once (9/09, 6/10), but I'm confident this isn't over. First the regulator motor was replaced (witht he same faulty plastic parts). Then the entire window glass needed to be replaced, but apparently the faulty parts were not redesigned yet in 5/2010. In 8/2010 I had another window fall into the door and that is the same repaired window that has failed a year later. I admit once I found these forums and called Chrysler Customer Service they reimbursed me for all prior repairs and covered the new repairs without chariign me a deductible or single cent. BUT, this is a HUGE inconveneince. May not be a significant safety concern, but no one is paying to have the interior of my car cleaned when it gets soaked or have anything replaced that is stolen form my car becuase I can't secure it with an open window. And no one is covering me for lost time out of work will I'm screwing around with the dealerships. I had a window repaired in June and now they are saying it's not the regulator motor, but some other part and the warranty on this has been extended until 2013.

Is this latest type of repair in 2011 going to be correct? If so I'll have 2 more windows yet to recieve the correct repair parts. Unbelieveable!! 7 TIMES!!!!

On my 2007 Liberty, the window on the drivers side window keeps falling, grinding, does not work and I have to tape it up with duct tape !!!!! I got an extended warranty from Chrysler on this problem and my vehicle was covered -- however, when I went to the dealer, he said -- I will have to inspect and you will have pay $200 if it not the exact part they have extended the warranty for -- something called a window regulator -- how would I know -- I know the window does not work and now I have to pay just to see if it is the problem -- I say fix this window under warranty -- and got on with it. I have written many letters to Chrysler about this problem, I have my extended warranty from Chrysler, but they refuse to pay to have to problem looked into. The What can I do now ? I have an extended warranty that is not of any use - really -- I have to pay to find the problem -- as I read the posts and talk to other unfortunate Jeep owners, they all have the same window problem -- cost to fix is around $500 -- so, what is the next step -- duct taping a new 2007 Liberty is not the answer for me -- I have owned 6 new Chrysler products, but this is the last, considering the way I am being treated. My wife says -- just fix the damn thing , bite the bullet -- I say no and I plan to fight it. I think my next step is to go to the Chrysler dealer, have them inspect and just hope they agree that it is the window regulators, as named in the warranty -- what do you think ?? Do I have any other choice? Thanks for you input -- Chrysler -- what a piece of junk company and believe me, if I have to pay, I will get alot of negative advertising for Chrysler over the next years. I am fed up and how you can make some suggestion -- what now ? MacAulay

Update from Dec 6, 2011: I went to another Chrysler Dealer and he said - yes, this is a very common problem and it is covered under warranty - he said - what the hell does Chrysler think is in the door panel, other then the window regularator ? Of course that is the problem -- book it in and we will order the parts and fix it -- period!! I took it in a week later, and within 2 hours, the new stuff was in and the window was running again -- so simple, but Chrysler was trying to save a buck -- instead that got a ton of bad PR and one less customer for any Chrysler ;product -- don't trust this company anymore!! After having to duct tape the window up and run it taped for over 2 months, I had a new window -- but, that duct tape glue is hard to remove -- I got several suggestions, -- vinegar and h20, nothing worked, just made the window more of a mess -- finally a clerk in the local hardware store said -- try some
" Goof Off" -- so I bought the container -- and it was great -- removed the glue in one wipe with the rag with a little of the goof off on it --- great product if you have this problem as well -- so, my problem is solved -- thanks for all the help !!!!! MacAulay

I had my Jeep all packed up to move to a new home. All of my electronics were packed in the back. The drivers side back seat window inconveniently slid down and wouldn't go back up. Naturally, it was raining...and raining in on my TV, laptop, DVD player. I tried taping it up; stuffing stuff between the glass and the rubber seals....with no success.
Eventually, my brother in law zip tied the window shut...not it won't open OR close....but at least it won't fall down!

While driving to a movie theater with a friend, on the chilliest night in November to date.....the drivers side front seat window fell down. As before, with my back window, no amount of coaxing would keep it in place....I shoved a magazine between the glass and the seal, to hold it at least partially shut. This screams "I am broken" to potential thieves!!! There is no way to properly secure your vehicle when the windows won't stay shut!! After reading about all of the problems that other Jeep Liberty owners have had with their window regulators, again...I again had my brother in law zip tie this window shut as well. I don't have the cash to pay Jeep $300+ to fix a problem that they are aware of and repeatedly occurs.

Well I bought my 2007 Jeep Liberty used about a month ago. Just made my 1st payment. I had it for less than a week & out went the rear passenger window. I was on vacation at that time. Covered it with plastic til I came back home. Then got the window back up & used duct tape to hold it. After looking online, that's when I noticed all the complaints about the windows. I came across an article saying the window was covered under an extended warranty. I took it to the dealer, they checked it out & verified that yes it was covered but they had to order the part. That was this past Thurs. Well Sun. the front passenger fell down. Mon. morning I call the dealer & tell them about that. They informed me that my part is in. I asked if it was the same cheap part? Am I going to continue to have this problem? He says they are actually putting a repair kit on it & they haven't had complaints on it. So we shall see! Now they have to order another kit. I have to keep leaving work early for these repairs.....I wish they would just repair them all at once. They won't do nothing until it goes out. Never paid any attention before but there are many jeep liberty's riding around with plastic over the window....Now I know why.

I have had my 2007 Jeep Liberty since May 2008. In March 2009, the rear window on the driver's side slid down (and could not be raised manually or by the power window button) and the door was stuck closed - and could not be opened. It was covered by my extended warranty, but that was a joke as the warranty company paid $54 and I paid $261. Then in December 2010, I received the letter about the window regulators and window lift plate repairs. Thought I could be reimbursed through Chrysler. Wrong...they will only pay for the window lift plate - not the window regulator. This really pisses me off because if it were not for a faulty window regulator, the window lift plate could be working fine.
It gets better, the same thing happened again yesterday. Window is open - door is stuck part open because the regulator cable is caught in the door mechanism. Only this time my extended warranty is expired (but did not save me much anyway). And apparently the window regulator/window lift plate warranty letter X27 was just sent for show and they do not plan to stand behind it. The window lift plate repair requires a new window regulator and that is not covered!
There is no recall because it is not a safety issue. So, since my door is partly open, if it comes completely open while I am driving down the interstate at 65 mph - will it become a safety issue then?
If anyone has a better way to deal with these window issues - please enlighten me. My next vehicle will not be a Jeep if I have anything to say about it.

The window just stopped working. In the middle of the winter I had to drive with my drivers side window down until I could get the window fixed. Then I am told that I would have to pay a deductible because my warranty had already expired. Then it happened again to my drivers back window and my passengers back window. I am currently on vacation and have nowhere nearby to get this fixed. It is raining cats and dogs almost everyday. I will be filing 2 more complaints.

Second time window reg problem for me. First time covered this time not. Jeep does not stand behind their product. Have also had the "known" valve problem with my jeep. If you don't know about that one check it out. It has to do with carbon build up on the valves that Jeep also knows about but will not cover. There is even a service memo for their techs which indicates there is a valve problem. That one is about $1500-$2000 to fix. Time for a new vehicle from anyone other than Jeep.

I bought my Jeep new in 2007. So far only driver side back window dropped down...While I was alone on a trip! Dealer repaired under warranty but now front side passenger window is making some odd noises. It stutters sometimes and I am just waiting for it to drop also. I am the only person who drives my Jeep and am disappointed by this problem and was glad to receive notice for extended warranty for this problem for 7 years. I was concerned because I could not afford to repair all the windows and I love my little silver Jeep and do not want to give it up.

This is the third time I have visited Tempe Dodge to have the regulator(s) replaced. They claimed to have a new version of the part that would prevent such problems, but as of two days ago I had one regulator break and another one starting to give.

I called and they confirmed a mailing I got from Chrysler last week indicating that the part would be covered for an additional seven years from the date of the letter. So no charge. Still, I'm reluctant to even use my windows because of this issue.

Not sure I will buy this make again, either.

OK, the first window regulator for the driver's side rear window went bad within a few days after I'd bought the vehicle with mileage around 24,000. Even though it's a 2007 Jeep Liberty the low mileage meant that the bumper to bumper warranty was still in effect. So the dealership replaced the window and regulator at no charge to me. Then with around 27,000 miles on it, the driver's side front window went bad. Window wouldn't stay up even when manually forced up. But this time the warranty was gone due to the time expiring in May 2010. The "fix" is rubber shims put in by the dealer, but of course, the window cannot be used. The dealer told me there is supposed to be a recall on these sorry pieces of s--t by the end of 2010 according to their sources. It's Dec16, 2010 and I've heard nothing yet. When is Chrysler going to act responsibly and recall to replace these poorly designed regulators with new design. My dealer tells me he has a backlog of hundreds of customers with the Jeep Liberty problem and that's only one dealer in a small Georgia town. I'm through with Chrysler products, period, unless these are replaced through recall. and it needs to happen very soon.

This issue should have been recalled by Jeep by now. If you google this issue, you will find thousands of unhappy customers. The faulty regulators break, even while driving and the window just falls and disappears into the door. Imagine driving down the highway in the winter months with your newborn in the back car seat and a window falls open. In one year, all four windows have needed a replaced window regulator. Regular cost, $500 each at the very least. We have a friend who graciously gave us a discount at $300 each. Still unacceptable. Jeep is aware of this problem and has dismissed it with no recall. Our tax dollars bailed them out, the least they could do is repay the tax payers for their errors. I not only want a refund, I would like a personal apology from Jeep given to everyone who has had to deal with this issue as well. I will never own another Jeep/Chrysler again for the simple lack of acknowledgment.

Window #4, this time it's the right front passenger door. Now I have run out of door stops and will have to buy more, except it's not going to be easy to hide the fact that I have a defective window from a potential thief because the Driver and Front Passenger windows are not tinted like the rear passenger windows. So, now I am really ticked and want this resolved by Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge... or whoever in the he!! can fix this. I can forgive one window repair, but now that all 4 have failed in the same year... absolutely NOT acceptible and I shouldn't have to spend another dime on fixing this.

I bought this car brand new and have been really happy with it until now. I shouldn't have to repair windows on a car that is less than 4 years old. If I would have bought a Honda, I know I would not be having this issue and having to complain anywhere possible to let people know how crappy american made cars can be. The wear and tear on my car is minimal since 95% of the time it's only me in the car. Therefore the passenger doors are not opened and closed very often. I want this fixed by the manufacturer. If they ever want repeat business, then they better make a more reliable product. I do not feel safe in this car and now I have worry about possible interior damage because the rainy season is fast approaching. I am a completely and totally dissatisfied Jeep owner and after this... I will definitely think twice before I buy any American made car...

Driver window failed and since it was near the end of winter and start of spring, I had to get it fixed so that my interior was not ruined due to rain. This car is only 3 years old and should not be having this kind of a issue. Especially since I am the only person in the vehicle 95% of the time. I don't have kids or other passengers getting in and out of my car on a regular basis, so the wear and tear is very minimal. I don't slam my doors, my father taught me right. This is not acceptable and now I know why I preferred Honda's. They don't break like this.

This is the 4th window (yes the other 3 have broken as well) that has broken spontaneously with no apparent cause. To make matters worse the windows don't stay up, the just fall straight down and you have to find a way to prop them up until you can definitively fix them. The first time this occurred about a year ago it was my drivers side rear window. The coil from the regulator shot into the door mechanism making it impossible to open the door. Nice! I am so sick of this problem. Of course it all occurred out of the warranty window and Chrysler doesn't seem to care that they used such crappy components for their windows.

Window fell into driverside rear door for no reason at all. Dealer was quite smug about it, telling me I would never have to replace that window again because they recognized a flaw in the earlier design and corrected it. Great, only this is a lease and I don't give a crap how long the window lasts after I give the crappy vehicle back in November! Charged me over $650 to repair. We phoned chrysler canada just wanting to complain about the jerk at the dealership, but they were quite sympathetic and reimbursed us for the entire amount.

This complaint log says I should report multiple problems separately, so I guess since ALL 4 OF MY WINDOWS ARE BROKEN (and some multiple times) I should submit 6 of these complaints!

We purchased our 2007 Jeep Liberty new in 2007. Not 6 months after we bought it one of the windows broke for the first time. They said they fixed it, then a year later - oh, broken again! They fixed it again, and a year or less later it broke for a third time! By this point we had moved to a different state, so this third time the window was taken to a different dealership. They assured me that the other dealership simply didn't use the best part for the job and that this time it would be fixed, for good. So, that was a year ago. IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, THE OTHER THREE WINDOWS HAVE BROKEN! And not only that, 2 of those 3 have broken in the last 2 weeks!!!! Now, although Jeep ADMITS that it is a "KNOWN PROBLEM" they REFUSE to fix it!!!! WTF?!?!?! Seriously, I am supposed to pay $500 PER WINDOW to fix something that is a MALFUNCTION on THEIR product? NO F-ING WAY! Jeep should be ashamed, and out of business. I will NEVER buy another Jeep/Chrysler product again! Someone at Jeep better bet their @SS that they are going to pay to fix my windows! If the sales person would have said, "by the way, the windows on these cars tend to break and Jeep is not going to fix the problem for you" I NEVER WOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE F-ING CAR! Not only are they ADMITTING GUILT by saying it's a MALFUNCTION/FAULTY PART and a KNOWN PROBLEM - they are also not giving full disclosure about the vehicle for NOT telling me about the problem before I purchased. I swear to GOD I will find a lawyer who can start a class action suit. Although I am angry and not being "professional" or "politically correct", NO ONE can deny or disregard the facts that Jeep has admitted guilt to this problem and that they did not disclose vital information about their product prior to selling me the vehicle.

Also, anyone (Jeep) who thinks that a window is trivial is out of their minds! What about the lady who's dogs were at risk? What about me having an asthma attack in the car because my windows won't roll up and it's fire season in California? What about theft? What about interior damage from the windows being down? What about not being able to get the window open in an emergency and then dying in the car because of it? This is not only a HUGE annoyance, it is a health and safety issue!!!!

I currently own a 2007 Jeep Liberty. I purchased this car in 2009 with about 30,000 miles on it. After less than a year of owning the car my back driver's side window fell down and would no longer roll up or down. I pushed it up with my hand repeatedly for a few months then it started falling lower and lower. I took it to get a quote and was told I would have to buy a new window because they changed the regulator and that it would cost around $500.00. Not wanting to spend that kind of money at the time I told my husband to fix it however he could so that it wouldn't fall anymore. He ended up pushing the window all the way up with his hand then putting clear caulk all around the seams of the window on the inside of the car. This worked great window stays up just fine, of course I can't roll it down either!

Yesterday my driver's side window did the same thing fell and wouldn't roll up I could have cried! I had to drive home while holding my window so it wouldn't fall all the way into my door while going 70 on the highway. I really didn't want to caulk this one since it is the driver's side front window and I will kind of need to use it! I called another repair shop and received the same news it will need a new window and new regulator and will cost over $500.00.

My repair guy called Chrysler who confirmed that this is a well known problem that has a lot of people pissed off, yet nothing can be done? Well for now both of my windows on the driver's side are caulked shut (which is total BS) and lets hope I don't get pulled over by the police lol he/she will have to go to my passenger side how embarrassing! I shouldn't have to pay over a thousand dollars to fix the windows in my POS Jeep that I am still making payments on! I am pissed as Hell. I would love to hear if anyone replaced the window and received the "new and improved regulator" and if it has held up okay? I will try calling the number I found on one of the post to see about getting it fixed for free but I won't hold my breath. Until then I will make sure I let everyone know how piss poor Jeep treats their buyers and tell everyone not to buy a Jeep. :)

I HAVE A 07 LIBERTY. I HAD ALL WINDOWS REGULATORS DONE 3 TIMES IN 3 YEARS. BUT I JUST HEARD, CHRYSLER FINELY CAME UP WITH A NEW PART TO FIX THIS FOR THERE MAY BE A RECALL FINELY. A DEALER TOLD ME SOME JEEP DEALERS ARE DOING IT FOR FREE ON CHRYSLERS BILL. FOR THEY KNOW. THEY ARE TO GO BACK 05 IS WHAT I HEARD. NOW IF THIS IS TRUE, WE HEAR IN OCT, NOV ABOUT IT. NO JEEP DEALER SHOULD TELL YOU, THEY DONT HAVE TIME TO FIX IT AS IF YOUR DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND IT FALLS. THEY MOSTLY HAVE TECH TO STAY LATE FOR PROBLEMS LIKE THIS. IF THEY DO REFUSE, FOR NO PART UNDERSTANDABLE.IF THEY HAVE PARTS, THEY NEED TO FIX IT., THEY CAN HELP YOU PUT PLASTIC OVER IT TILL PART COMES IN. TELL THEM YOULL COME BACK WITH A LAWER IF YOU LEAVE THE LOT AND (THEY HAVE A PART,) AND SOMEONE UNLOCKS THE DOOR OR JUMPS IN YOUR CAR, OR STEALS IT. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX NOW, WHY LET IT GO ON SO LONG MAKES NO SENCE. I LOVE MY LIBERTY. VERY GOOD GAS MILAGE NOTHING EVER WENT WRONG. JUST REGULATERS.

This is crazy.... I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty and it is once again in the shop for the window regulators... for the 7th time! 3 months ago, the dealership at Tucson Dodge told me he hadnt heard of any problems with this happening... well, low and behold, yesterday he said he has gotton many complaints. Chrysler in Dearborn Michigan reimbursed me for the first 5 and now I am waiting on a return call from them about the next 2.... I took my Jeep in yesterday because my rear driverside fell last friday. We asked them to check the other ones because the front passenger one vibrated when it was put up or down. He called me and informed me that the glass fell and I would have to pay $505.00 to have it fixed. He said he has to replace the glass because the "old regulators" are being replaced with new ones, and they dont fit the galss thats in them..... THIS IS MY FAULT???????

Believe me... this Jeep will be going up for sale ASAP and I will NEVER buy another Jeep as long as I live..... it has 37,000 miles on it and I am the only one that rides in it. It would be different if we had kids that slammed the doors but my back doors are never even opened..... I am really pissed......

I have never in my life had such problems with a car. I have a 2007 Jeep liberty and in the last two months have had to replace two windows due to faulty windows motors or so they say. I just don't understand why it is the consumer's responsibility to replace when it was to no fault of ours. If Jeep knew there was a problem with the cars shouldn't they have recalled them and replaced them. I will never buy another Jeep again and I will be sure to let everyone I know how the dealerships could care less about their customers.

I know every has put in their two cents about this, and here's my horror story. I bought my Jeep Liberty brand new in July of 07'. TWO WEEKS LATER my rear window fails. I had replaced it and I didn't mind so much since it was under warranty, but still hated the fact of my BRAND NEW car was already starting to deteriorate. About 2-3 months later... there goes my passenger window, 2-3 more months later the other rear window, 2-3 more months later... I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. After having my car for 3 years now, I have brought it in to have the windows replaced more than 10 times!!!! I am not exaggerating one bit on this! This is, by far, the worst problem I have ever had to deal with on a car and I owned a Pontiac! Extended warranties don't cover pre-existing problems. Now I know they got this since health care was set up the same way, but even health care is changing the rules. But not Chrysler, oh no! They would much rather you go in 10+ times to spend YOUR money paying for the car they should have fixed the first time, plus parts & labor, plus the car payments you're already paying for! Why recall when the money to recall all the cars is more money than the deaths and lawsuits of people who have died/been injured from faulty parts? When I bought my first new car, I wish Jeep/Chrysler had mentioned all the BS they would be putting me through for the next 3+ years. With all the money I've spent taking my car in to get the windows fixed, I could have paid off my car! I will NEVER buy another Chrysler vehicle and am looking to get rid of my Jeep ASAP (that is after I go pick it up once again from the mechanic). I hope this changes the mind of someone wanting to buy a car through Chrysler. I just wish I was lucky enough to be informed!

I posted a complaint previously though I guess it hasn't been approved yet. I called the 1-800-247-9753 number people suggested on this site for Chrysler Customer Complaints. I was assigned a case number and my case manager called me back within 24hrs. They are authorizing the window regulator be replaced on the current broken window for free and reimbursing the $700 I have spent on past repairs. The case manager was friendly and helpful and I didn't have to argue about anything. She claims it's a known problem and the parts now being used for repairs have been redesigned to correct the defect (hence the need to replace the glass as well). We'll see how the new regulator holds up over time. But should I have further problems I'll have this 1-800 to call. Hope you all have equal success calling Chrysler to get this extremely frustrating window regulator issue resolved.

So glad I found this site. I hope some smart lawyer sees this as a perfect civil action lawsuit case. I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty I bought new off the lot in March of 07. First day the drivers window was sticking. Dealer said it need to be greased. After several trips back for greasing I gave up wasting my time there. Sept 07 rear driver's side window fell into the door. Guess what? It was the regulator. Replaced under warranty for free. Jan 07 while about to leave my car on the side of the road outside of Vail ski resort the passenger window fell into the door. Not only could I not lock up my car or stop the snow from getting, I had to drive 3 hours home on the expressway in below 0 weather without a window!! Cost of repair - $250. Dealer confirmed driver's window also broken and would cost more at $370 to fix. I couldn't afford both windows so waited.

May 2010 the drivers window fell into the door. Now the dealer says they are required to replace the glass too and it was $487 to fix. Why does perfectly good glass need to be replaced?? Aug 2010 rear passenger window broken a 2nd time!!! Called Chrysler to complain and said I want to be refunded for past repairs and be comped for all future regulator repairs. This is insane! Hundreds of complaints about the exact same thing and this is only from the people who found this website and know it's not a fluke with their car but a universal defect that Chrysler is losing one customer after another over. Bad time in the economy for car companies to piss off potentially loyal customers. Next vehicle.. Nissan Xterra! Bye bye Jeep.

this is the third window that needs to be replaced on this car. considering it has only 16,000 miles this is pretty pathetic. They should be recalled with all the complaints about the windows dropping. It can be really dangerous if driving on the highway when they fall down.

I am really surprised at all the issues with this window issue...My left rear driver's side window went out about a year and a half after I got my Liberty...it is such a hassle to constantly manually push up your window with your hands to close it...I have never had it looked at because it started out as it falling just a little bit but now it falls about a foot each time I take it out anywhere...I finally got tired of it and stuck a screwdriver down beside the glass between it and the door and it is holding okay now...but there is a part of the window that looks like a large pipe cleaner that now interferes with the closing of the door...guess I will have to get it fixed and never use the door or window again from the sounds of all the complaints I have read..it is a shame that a window can be such an irritant....only relief is when winter comes and ice and snow freeze on window and basically hold it up....Jeep should pay or recall for known issue with windows..not many people today can replace window parts every year..I know I am one of those people....If you know this is issue then fix it!!!! I have owned Jeeps since 1998 and never an issue that was like a toothache such as this window!!

This is now the SECOND time this particular window has fallen, and the third time total for this Liberty. The first fix was under warranty, the second fix cost $100 after speaking to a Jeep rep. Not sure what's going to happen with this one as it happened on a Friday night so I have to wait until tomorrow morning to call. This is absolutely ridiculous!! This is the second Liberty I've owned, and it will be the last.

Update from Aug 13, 2010: Called Jeep first thing Monday morning, spoke to a helpful rep. She had all the info in front of her, showing this as the third occurrence with this Jeep. She told me that I'd hear from Jeep in 24 hours as to their "decision." The next morning I got my phone call and was told that the repair cost would be fully covered, either by the dealer or by a reimbursement check sent to me. Took the Jeep in; the service guy did comment that they're used to seeing Jeeps with taped up windows--gee, then WHY hasn't there been a recall??? Anyway, they fixed the window, and I got a receipt for $0.00--sweet! I then got a message from Jeep the next morning wondering if I had taken the Liberty in to be serviced. A few hours later the dealer called, wondering if I had talked to someone at Jeep. Do these guys have ANY idea what they're doing?? If there was no communication I'd love to know who approved the free repair! Oh well. Hopefully this is the last window issue with this Jeep. Trading it in next year....for a Ford.

We have had our Jeep Liberty for 3 years now and while for the most part, it's run well (besides a fuel pump replacement) and now a (possible transmission issue), the quality of the vehicle sucks. Our window regulator on both the driver's back and front side have broken. It's just my husband and I so we only roll down the back window on the rare occasion that we have someone riding with us. I looked back one day last week to find it had slipped halfway down. By the time I could pull over it had fully fallen into the door!! Our driver's side window sticks - so we have to pull it up manually - but so far it doesn't fall down on it's own. We took the car to our local mechanic to have this looked at and he called Jeep to find out what to do about the broken parts where we were informed we had to replace the regulator AND glass. I was beyond furious! Our glass is perfectly fine, so I don't see how this should be our problem. 800 to fix two windows? Really!? We put in a request with the dealership to have it fixed free of charge or at the very least, a discounted rate - but haven't heard back yet. The back window is a safety AND security risk - not to mention a huge inconvenience. I cannot believe this isn't a standard recall issue.

This is the fourth window that has failed on my 2007 Jeep Liberty. I purchased the car new and am very careful with it. This time it is the driver rear window and I was just driving down the road and it fell. I am so exasperated with these window problems. The driver window has been repaired 3 times and each other window once. My dealership has been wonderful at getting me authorization to repair and me not having to pay for it but still a pain in the a__! Always happens at the worse times and so inconvenient to go to dealership all the time. I don't think 30 -40,000 miles and 3 years is long enough for these parts to break or wear out. This is my second Liberty and I had no problems with the first one. Guess Jeep thought a cheaper part would work, well, it doesn't. Need a recall bad on these. Stay tuned.

I have been reading the complaints of a large number of Jeep Liberty owners regarding the power window regulators failing. More specifically the plastic part that hold the window in the track.

My driver's side front window failed about 1 year ago and was fortunately covered under warranty. My left rear window failed yesterday my falling into the door frame while I was driving home from work. It is only my wife and I who are ever in the vehicle, so the back windows have probably only been rolled down 5 or 6 times during the life of the vehicle, so it's hardly a wear and tear issue.

My extended warranty was up 9,000kms ago so of course the dealership is unwilling to do anything for me. I have called Chrysler Canada who happily took my complaint, but also refused to do anything for me. I have read on these forums that some US owners have had success after calling Chrysler. I was wondering if any Canadian users have had any luck with complaints made regarding this problem.

I'm pretty handy so I will likely replace the regulator myself or purchase the repair kit others have mentioned here, but it is very frustrating that Chrysler/Jeep are getting away with stiffing their customers on this issue.

Bought my daughter a NEW 2007 Jeep Liberty in Dec 07. This faulty window regulators in the back windows has broke FIVE times in 2.5 yrs. My service adviser told me the problem occurs in Jeep Liberty 2004-2007 & they were just told to fix them. Four times I didn't have to pay but 1 time I paid $50 co=pay but unsure why I needed to pay! He told me that Jeep doesn't look at it as a safety issue & said that is why they haven't recalled them. I told him that living in the desert in 11 degrees is most definitely a safety issue! I will NEVER buy another Jeep product! and I will probably get rid of this one too!
