The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Liberty. When the vehicle was started, the instrument panel lights (avs, esp, vas, service four wheel drive) remained illuminated. All of the wheel sensors were replaced, the system was cleaned, and the brake pads were replaced; however, the failure continued. The dealer was notified, but the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 28,200.

Driving on I-75 my engine light came on. When I got home I called southfield Chrysler and they said if it was not blinking, not a big deal just get it checked out. This was a holiday weekend and I did not want to wait. I went to a mechanic in lake orion and some wires had burned through, cylinders were misfiring and I was lucky the engine did not catch in fire there is probably nothing you can do at this late date but I wanted to file a complaint anyway.

This electrical problem showed up in the middle of driving down the road. The entire car shut down going 40 mph. Lights flashed, wipers went off, horn too, all for 10 seconds, while cruising with now power/gas. Then the car started again on its own, and kept driving. Ever since, the electrical system is screwed up. Wipers will run, but do not push fluid. Car doors will not lock/unlock with keyfob or driver's side controls. Must manually lock/unlock all doors. The tailgate cannot unlock, therefore will not open. Fan doesn't work, so no A/C or heat. Mechanic said the tipm must be replaced, and it is not covered by Jeep/Chrysler warranty. $1300 out of pocket! this is ridiculous, it is obviously a manufacturer defect.

Started vehicle and drove about 1/4 of a mile. The vehicle completely shut down and I had to manually steer it to the side of the road. Car would not start and power to everything was lost. Could not jump start even though battery was fully charged. Turned out to be faulty tipm. Vehicle only has 36,000 miles on it!

Driver's door lock quit working, now when you put on wipers the control panel goes black or constantly flickers. Also, after filling gas tank gauge showed empty until more gas was put in. Had incident where alarm went off while I was in church. Everything except filling gas tank and alarm was while car was in motion.

Over 2 weeks ago, I was coming home with my 2 year old, and as we came off the highway, the battery light came on, then a bunch of other random lights on the dash popped on and beeped at me. I heard the car die right as I coasted into a gas station. Tried to jump with 3 different cables and it wouldn't jump. Next day, replaced the battery and it started up fine. Drove to work (about 5 miles) and the battery light came on again as I came across a hill. More dash lights came on and it died again. Had a mechanic replace the alternator, and then we had to get a 2nd new battery because I killed the first one. Later that day I drove it around, and after about 5-10 minutes of driving, as I was coming up a hill, the battery light came on. Turned around and came home. Next day I drove about 10 minutes across town and back and the light came on again, but it made it. I thought maybe the battery was just trying to get charged up, so I drove on the highway for about an hour and it was fine. When I came off the highway, all the dash lights started coming on and dinging at me... and then it died again in a parking lot. Would jump at first but RPM meter would jump up and down and then die. Eventually it wouldn't jump at all. Replaced the alternator again. Jumped the vehicle, let it sit running for about 10 minutes. Revved the engine and it died. Won't start. Won't even click. Called Jeep and they thought it was a bad PCM. Mechanic rented a special tool to test it. The PCM is fine, but the tipm module is bad. Now all my other weird issues are making sense: Radio dials sometimes don't work, sometimes it stalls in the cold at randomly. And the air flap actuators stopped working, meaning that no air/heat blows out the top vents. And then it dying on me randomly, with no other warnings that things were going wrong.

2010 Jeep Liberty limited 4X4 began to intermittently start and not have headlights, sometimes the lights would not come on at all, other times only the parking lights would work, and other times only the headlights would work. It was taken to both a Jeep dealer as well as a local garage and no one could find an issue. They tried replacing the switch but this did not help either. Eventually, the issue got worse and the lights have now shut off while driving at night on highways, local roads, ect. And has become unsafe to drive. Jeep still claims to never have seen anything like this however multiple complaints exists online for similar complaints, a local garage told me about the tipm issues and even upon suggesting the replacement of this part, Jeep insisted this couldn't be the issue. Now the lights are really acting up, shutting off while driving, flashing frequently, only parking lights work sometimes, sometimes only one light works, and other issues are beginning (starting randomly, horn / alarm randomly going off, ect) Jeep still refusing that this is the issue and wants to replace / repair other things first. Currently looking into replacement tipm personally, as at this point, the Jeep Liberty is unsafe to drive, especially at night.

I was driving at night and the headlights just stopped working. I was extremely concerned about my safety as I had no headlights and cars approaching me were flashing me to turn of my headlights. I couldnt pass the MA. Saftey inspection because of this. I brought the car to my mechanic and he has to replace the totally integrated control module at a cost of $900. This is absolutly a safety issue and should be recalled!

I was driving home from the convenience store in my town when the headlights just stopped working. The only lights I had were the parking lights. Car were flashing me to tell me to turn my lights on but they would not come on. I have found out by researching on line that there is a defect with the totally integrated power module. I contacted Jeep customer care and they would not offer any financial assistance. This is a very dangerous safety problem that Chrysler Jeep should recall. The total cost to repair this is $900

Started my vehicle like any other day and suddenly a whole lot of white smoke came out the rear exaust. Then it happened again two days later and again in another day. So I went online to see if there was any problems with white smoke coming out on any 2010 Jeep Liberty and I learned there was a pending investigation involving the totally integrated power module failure and in the description it says there's white smoke present.

The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

On 4 separate occasions while driving my vehicle the ABS system on the Jeep turns on and my car comes to a stop. I am unable to move the car and I have had it towed to the Jeep dealership to be looked at. My car has been in their shop 4 times for service. Each time I am told the problem has been fixed and each time it occurs again. This issue is an extremely dangerous situation as my car literally is unable to move and comes to a complete halt. It has occurred while driving on the highway, at an intersection, and driving up hill. The dealership is unsympathetic and I am unaware as how to proceed. Thank you.

As I was leaving work, I started up my Jeep and the flashers started flashing by themselves. After about 5 minutes of turning the Jeep on and off, turning the hazard switch on and off, it finally stopped. A few weeks later, for the 5th time, my Jeep refused to start after a stop at the local pharmacy. The horn has not worked for about a year now, and right before it died, it would honk randomly whether the Jeep was parked, key in the ignition or not. It has also stalled a few times on the freeway. Dealer has recommended replacement of the tipm and says that this is a common occurrence.

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep patriot 4X4. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph on a highway, the transmission indicator light illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle rapidly and independently decelerated up to 20 mph leaving the contact stranded on a deserted highway. The contact was only able to restart the vehicle within an hour. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that they were aware of the defect that occurred after 50,000 miles however, they were unable to determine the cause of failure in the software metering system for the transmission fluid and they did not have a remedy. The failure recurred on three occasions. The manufacturer reiterated the same information that the dealer provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 68,000.
