Fuel spills everywhere, needs to be recalled.

Called Jeep Customer service - 1-877-426-5337 - they would not help because there is no recall. Please call them if you are having the same problem, it's the only way to possibly get a recall.

Filed report with the Department of Transportation Vehicle Safety Hotline - 1-888-327-4236 - please do the same if you have this problem, it's the only way they will open an investigation.

Now I have to sit with my fingers crossed and my bill in hand waiting for a recall so that I can get reimbursed. So frustrating - they know it's a problem yet they do nothing unless enough people complain about it.

All the time when I fill a full tank always gushes out and also spills all over the car's rear and mostly on myself making me smell of toxic gas.

Liberty Sport 3.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 72,000 miles

Every time I fill up my gas tank, gas spills all over. Even when I listen for it to get full and try to pull it out before it happens, it still overflows. I thought that would help but it doesn't!

Liberty JET 3.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

Every time, when filling gas tank, fuel spills out from fuel fill tube right after the fuel nozzle clicks off. Very annoying, messy, embarrassing, and smelly. Could possibly be dangerous under the right conditions.

Update from Apr 28, 2015: Just returned from the Jeep dealer (Outten motors) in Hamburg PA. Diagnosed the problem as a roll over valve sticking. Replacement of fuel tank would be $1051.73.
