This is absurd, not only has my steering wheel cover split after being less than two months old, Jeep tried to blame it on me! Replace it for over $500, declined on warranty!? I have had, or am still trying to have fixed 3 interior problems including the back seat plastic backing and back left quarter panel, both which were explained to me by blaming the car coming from the factory so tight that when it settles and stretches the panels and other pieces won't fit anymore and must be replaced.
The dealership fixed the back of my seat on the spot but after waiting more than three months of waiting for a part (rear quarter panel) and over two dozen calls they finally got the part in and called me to make an appointment for installation. Well, I went today with high hopes of it actually getting fixed, but they called me four and a half hours after the drop off to say that they had the wrong part! So there goes another day of work, me finding a ride, and probably another three months before I get what I hope is the correct part next time.
I have been beyond patient but am extremely disappointed in Jeeps ability or willingness to fix a problem that was so clearly a factory default. I even asked the service expert to explain to me how in the world could it hypothetically be possible that I could have done this. His response was, " maybe a ring on your hand" to which I replied and showed him that I do not wear any rings. So his next response is the only way he could see it happening is with an open knife cutting the cover. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Do you really think that I would buy a brand new car and within two months take out a knife and cut a one inch curved slit in my steering wheel!!! Of course I wouldn't! I take very good care of my car and this assumption is just plain ludicrous. This cut is the only mark at all on my steering wheel so I would have no reason at all to do something like this in order to get a new one.
The entire process from May until now at the end of August has been absolutely astonishing. I can't think of a time where I have had poorer customer services and total lack of care to the customer's needs. My advice is to not buy or at least to understand that the warranty they give means absolutely squat. When I was quoted a price for the cover, it was over four hundred for the part and ninety dollars for installation. So in the end they expect me to pay over five hundred dollars for a new steering wheel that was defective from the factory. Please share if anyone has had a similar problem with their steering wheel cover being split at what looks to me to be a stress from over stretching the cover.
