The engine light went on while driving, then the throttle light went on, started hesitating, wanting to stall, then lost acceleration. Had to pull over and turn car off. Waited a few minutes to restart. Went to mechanic and was told this is a throttle problem and this model lets you "LIMP HOME". Tells me that Chrysler is aware of this dangerous problem. If I was on the interstate with fast moving traffic when this happened, it could have been deadly. This problem should be on a recall list.

evap code p0456 leak detected

I keep getting a continual P0456 code about every 3 mos. Its getting very annoying. My engine light keeps coming on and I have to get it checked. At first I was going to jeep and paying for a code check that was getting a little expensive. Now I go to Auto Zone, they are great at checking the code at NO charge. This has been going on for the past 2 yrs. Don't want to go to jeep and pay a huge bill for something that may be a recall issue. I will keep checking the code when it pops up and as long its the same one I know its the leak. I just clear it out and wait for the next time. Changed the gas cap but didn't seem to fix the problem. May have a hose leak but can't afford dealer to repair.

Patriot 2.4L I4 6 Speed

  • Automatic transmission
  • 880 miles

I purchased the Jeep on 8/16/14. Check engine light on 9/8/14. Jeep was bucking and would not accelerate, felt like it was in a lower gear. Had not even made the first car payment. This is how the dealer corrected:

1. Found multiple codes incorrect in gear ratio in TCM 2. Trans fluid was empty 3. Vehicle inspected on lift showed fluid leaking from bell housing area 4. Transmission, air box, battery, upper trans mount, front wheels, torque converter, etc. had to be REMOVED 5. Trans pump had to be replaced and torque converter

I was given a rental car for 9 days while this issue was being corrected. Most of the wait time was due to the fact that the dealer had to order the part. I was very disappointed since I didn't even have my new vehicle for a month.
