The contact owns a 2008 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. The contact stated that the parking brake was defective and when engaged, the vehicle would continue to roll backward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the mechanism inside the parking brake had fractured. The dealer repaired the hand brake yet one week later, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer as the failure recurred. The dealer then adjusted the tension on the hand brake. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who then performed a diagnostic and confirmed that the lubricant from the axle seal was leaking fluid. The fluid was dripping onto the shoes which prevented the parking brake from functioning correctly. The current mileage was 86,000 and the failure mileage was 3,000.
