On May 29th of 2014 I was driving my 2008 Jeep Wrangler down a 4 lane city street at about 3000 RPM. I had just taken off from a red light when I heard a loud explosion that resulted in a fire underneath the vehicle. The gas tank exploded and the fire covered the bottom of the entire vehicle. There was damage under the hood on the engine side of the firewall on what appeared to be fuel lines. Luckily there was a quick response by the fire department who quickly extinguished the fire, but my Jeep has been rendered un-drivable. I have contacted both Chrysler and the dealership but not assistance there. The Chrysler investigation team would not even take a look at the fuel lines the marshal determined started the fire. I will never feel safe in this vehicle or any other vehicle produced by Chrysler ever again. Luckily there was no personal injury to me, but only because I had all the doors and top off which enabled a rapid escape. Please take a serious look a these Wrangler and force Chrysler to take action before someone is seriously injured or even killed.

I just pulled out of quick trip after putting $60 in gas in and right about 35 mph around 1500rpm I heard a loud "pop" the Jeep shut down, then flames came from both sides of my Jeep, almost burning my leg. (I had the doors and top off the vehicle.)

When I fill up the vehicle, gas flows backwards out of the filler neck and pours down the side of the vehicle onto the ground. I loose at least 12 ounces.

Every single time I go to fill up my 2008 Jeep Wrangler sahara gas spills down the side and onto the ground. When the pump clicks off it is already over-filled and spills everywhere! I've tried holding it at different angles and pushing it farther in but nothing works except not filling up my vehicle entirely. This is a serious fire risk and not to mention the way the fuel is ruining the paint and discoloring my bumper!

Upon filling up the vehicle, fuel rushes out of the inlet and onto the fender guard, body, and bumper and on the ground. This has happened repeatedly at every fill up. After the first three times this happened I caught as much as possible from the spill = 3 pints +. it shoots all over my hands, arm, and leg. Very dangerous and hazardous having gas all over me.

Gas spews out and does not shut off correctly when tank is full. Keeps shutting off gas when it is not full causing it to take an extremely long time to fill, but will not shut off when tank is full and will spit back gas and over flow.

Problem occurs when fueling. Auto pump shutoff does not work with this gas tank filler, fuel sprays out of fill up. Only time fuel does not spill out if you very slowly add fuel and stop before tank is full.

When refueling, the vehicle ejects between 1 tblsp and 1 pint of fuel from the filler neck depending on the pump, outside temperature, and fuel level prior to filling. Fuel is ejected a distance of up to 6' (observed). Fuel is only spilled when the tank is filled and at termination of the procedure. Warm temperatures eject more fuel. This occurs 100% of the time and I need to warn attendants so they don't get fuel splashed on them. We are in Oregon where self-service is not allowed.

Had been smelling raw gas inside and outside vehicle for several months. Finally tracked down to fuel line coming from gas tank. Plastic elbow under driver seat (RHD postal Jeep) has pinhole and has been squirting a fine stream of fuel onto bottom of vehicle. If it had squirted on exhaust or any other hot surface, it would surely cause a fire. Wonder if any other elbows have failed on other vehicles, and also if there are any fuel line elbows in the engine compartment? could be explanation for engine fires that are being investigated. Local Jeep dealer had replaced fuel tank on 10-19-11 due to a recall about fuel spilling out of filler tube after fuel handle clicked off. Never noticed gas smell before the tank was replaced.

When filling up the gas tank, if allowed to fill completely it will puke gas back out after the automatic pump shut off. Enough gas to run down the side of the Jeep and on to the ground. Since the first time it happened it will do it every time if I do not stop it early.
