A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

WAS ON A ROAD TRIP TWO WEEKS AGO FROM LOUISIANA TO VIRGINIA. GOT TO ALABAMA AND THE SUN HAD JUST WENT DOWN. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A BUZZING NOISE FROM THE FUSE PANEL. SMELLED WHAT TO APPEARED TO BE BURNING WIRES. PULLED OVER IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED ON TOP OF THE FUSE PANEL THERE WERE 6 RELAYS. ONE OF WHICH CONTROLS THE PARKING, TAIL, AND DASH LIGHTS. REMOVED THE RELAY AND I HAD NO LIGHTS EXCEPT HEADLIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS.

LUCKILY I HAD TOOLS AND REMOVED HALF OF THE DASH. DISCOVERED THAT CONDENSATION FROM THE DRIVER SIDE AC VENT HAD DRIPPED DOWN INTO THE FUSE BLOCK AND CAUSED THE RELAY TO SHORT. WAS STRANDED FOR 8 HOURS IN THE HEAT IN A BAD TOWN. NOWHERE IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL OR ON THE WEB ARE THESE 6 RELAYS LISTED. HAD TO GET THE WHOLE FUSE PANEL REPLACED. KIA ENGINEERS NEEDED TO PUT SOME SORT OF COVER ABOVE THE FUSE PANEL TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM.

I'LL NEVER OWN ANOTHER KIA. KIA SAYS I'M THE FIRST TO REPORT THIS FIRE HAZARD AND NOT TO MENTION MY DOOR LOCKS STAY LOCKED. CAR WAS HIT IN A PARKING LOT AND I COULDN'T OPEN BOTH FRONT DOORS DUE TO FAULTY ACTUATORS. COULD NOT GET THE TAG NUMBER FOR HIT AND RUN. PLUS WHEN CLIMBING OUT THE WINDOW I FEEL AND HURT MY SHOULDER. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ASAP TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
