After I got this mini van the air bag warning light never worked right, some time the passenger air bag light would stay on and sometimes it went off, did not mater if someone was sitting there or not. Dealer told me they could not find an issue with it. Now the light stays on and will not go out. I was told that the air bags will not work when the light is on. This is a major safety issue.

The "air bag" warning light came on and the vehicle manual indicated we should take it to a dealer asap. The dealer indicated that none of the air bags in the vehicle would deploy when this "air bag" light is on. The dealer also indicated that there had been many problems with the Kia Sedona air bag sensors located under the driver's seat. They recalibrated the sensors at a cost of $194 and the light went off. However, they indicated that the sensors were "still vacillating" and that if this air bag light came on again the sensors under the seat would need to be replaced (at a cost of approximately $1500). I went on line and found many other Kia owners who have had the same problem. This is a serious safety issue and, in my opinion, there should be a recall to fix these defective sensors.

My airbag light came on & I called my local Kia dealer. They told me to make sure nothing was under seats because that could cause it. There was nothing under the seats, however about 25 miles later (when I arrived at work) the light went off. The next day the light came back on & has not gone off since. There are so many complaints about this same thing on this make and model, this should be a recall. It is a safety issue & I shouldn't have to pay $2000 of my money to fix Kia's shortfall!!!

My wife was driving our 2006 Kia Sedona ex approximately 40 mph when she was in a collision where she rear ended another vehicle. The driver's side airbag did not deploy. Luckily no one was injured, but we are unsure why, at such a speed, no airbags went off.

Our 2006 Kia Sedona airbag light on the dashboard came on. A Kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,850 repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 47,485 miles; 2 months past the warranty. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained. This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by Kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. We bought this for our family, we have two little children and it scares me to have them in the car.

2006 Kia Sedona mini-van with ongoing air bag system failure issues. The 'passenger airbag off' light is lit when more than an 80# person is sitting in the front passenger seat indicating that the airbag is turned off. At times the airbag system indicator light is lit as well which is indicative of an entire airbag system failure according to Kia's maintenance manual that came with the vehicle. This has been ongoing for 3 years and has been taken to the shop numerous times with results of: I was told, "you had your purse and a book on the front seat and that messes with the seat sensor", replacement of the computer, replacement of the front passenger seat, I was told, "we didn't plug the seat sensor back in all the way", and etc. The car has had multiple other issues but this one is by far the largest safety issue.

2006 Kia Sedona. Consumer writes regarding air bag light illuminating. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and the result of the diagnosis came back as one frontal and one rear crash sensor had corroded and malfunctioned, and also the passenger seat air bag switch malfunctioned. After resetting the diagnostic codes, the technician turned the vehicle on and the same faults registered.

Our 2006 Kia Sedona airbag light on the driver?S dashboard came on. A Kia dealer diagnostic revealed a $1,900 in repair costs to replace the airbag seat sensors. The airbags will not deploy until repaired. Our Sedona has 61,000 miles; 1,000 beyond the 60,000 warranty. This renders the safety rating of the Kia Sedona useless until repaired and endangers the lives for our precious children to ride in this vehicle. The vehicle has never been in an accident and has been well maintained rigorously following all manufacturer maintenance. This is a safety defect issue and should be covered by Kia as a recall; not a warranty issue. Kia corporate declined to cover the costs. The number one reason we purchased the 2006 Kia Sedona was the safety rating. Now we are stuck with our precious two little children far from home with a safety dilemma rendered by a manufacture defect that Kia will not acknowledge. This has put a young family in a dilemma of how to safely Transport our children home and how to pay for a manufacturer defect that is beyond our means. This very same issue has been reported by other owners: www.2carpros.com/questions/Kia-Sedona-2006-Kia-Sedona-air-bag-light-red. please help Kia realize this is a safety issue and is only 1,000 miles out of warranty anyway. Not only is this bad public relations for a company for not standing behind their safety rating, it is dangerous to put lives at risk. Please make this a recall issue. Thank you!

The contact owns a 2006 Kia Sedona. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated on the instrumental panel. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that he would need to replace the front passenger air bag sensor because in a crash they would not deploy. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Problems: Air bag light on again. Has been repaired by dealer several times. Ac does not blow cold continually and has been repaired several times. New compressor, additional freon, etc. Horn malfunctioning again. Transmission problem - the vehicle "bangs or slams" when you come down a hill to a stop. When slowing down to a stop light it actually has a surge or acceleration. This vehicle only has 64000 on it and the brakes have been serviced several times (front and rear). Now when I am driving I get a terrible grinding feeling - and at a higher speed on the highway when you go to slow down faster it vibrates terribly. Also the braking is terrible at higher speeds. Also had problems with the actuator repair/replaced several times, horn not sounding properly, air bag light (repaired several times), cruise control issues (won't maintain speed - accelerates or decelerates), battery or electrical issues (told to replace battery which I did & paid for), headlight issues (have replaced lights several times), vibration on highway (new tires and tires have been rebalanced. Alignment done). After reviewing multiple websites on Kia reviews, these above items are very common experiences for Kia Sedona owners. I wanted to make you aware of these items since I feel that if consumers do not notify the authorities nothing will be corrected or known. I have really noticed in the last few months, almost immediately after passing the warranty mark, the vehicle has taken a turn for the worse and problems seem to be escalating.

2006 Kia Sedona with serious safety issues. Passenger sliding door opens while driving, opens and closes and will not close all the way. Starter was replaced. Air bag light was looked at. Consumer says there are more problems. The rotors had to be replaced due them being out of round. Several parts within the door were replaced such as the cable and door switch assembly and door latch assembly. The vehicle accelerated unexpectedly. The rear sensors and rear caliper brake hose needed to be repaired.

I purchased a 2006 Kia Sedona in August, 2006. On 08-14-2006 it was returned for malfunction of the airbag system, repairs were made. I also stated to them that it was pulling to the left, which to this day they have not corrected. On 11-13-2006 at approx. 3,300 miles the engine light came on, the van began to sputter and cut out. It was towed to the dealer( misfire in cyclinder)and repairs were made. The van was returned to the dealer again on 01-03-2007(scanned system, could not find code),01-18-2007(multiple misfires),02-08-2007(random misfires. Also repaired shorted out hot wire to driver's side parking light),04-09-2007(they stated that the gas cap was loose, even though the van is skipping),04-12-2007 (random misfires). After sending a final repair attempt letter to Kia they picked my vehicle up on 04-23-2007 and brought techs in from California to assess the problem. I was going to pick my van up on Thursday 04-26-2007 but Kia called and stated that after they test drove it the engine light once again came on. They stated that they hope to have it resolved on 04-27-2007. On 04-27-2007 they hope to have it resolved on 04-30-2007. On 04-30-2007 they hope to have it resolved on 05-01-2007. On 05-01-2007 they stated that they would be pulling out the drive train to ship to California and in turn Kia/California would be shipping a new one. Now they hope to have it resolved on Friday, May 4, 2007. I have major safety concerns/issues regarding this vehicle. There is obviously severe electrical/mechanical problems and this vehicle is not stable/safe enough to be roadworthy. The people at the dealership are wonderful and understanding to my concerns, however Kia motors of America does not seem to address the safety issues as a concern. I am still pursuing this issues between myself and Kia, but this is way too much hassle to go through to try to keep myself, my family and other motorist safe against this vehicle being on the road.
