The contact owns a 2009 Kia Sedona. While the vehicle was undergoing an inspection, the technician stated that the control arm was rusted and that the vehicle would barely pass the inspection. In 2017, the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to sunbury motors Kia (570-286-7746, located at 2030 N susquehanna trail, selinsgrove, pa 17870) where it was diagnosed that there was rust on the control arm, but not enough for a replacement. The technician applied an undercoating. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the dealer did what was needed at the time. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. Consumer stated Kia refuses to replace the control arm because they say the undercoating is all they are required to do.

2009 Kia Sedona. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle ESC light issues. Consumer states has 2012 Kia Sedona with same issues. The consumer stated when she stopped for gas, the light went out, but the speedometer stopped working. She stopped the vehicle, turned off the ignition, then re-started it again. The speedometer started working again, but the ESC light came back on. The consumer went to the dealer, and was informed there was a recall on the taillight. Both vehicles had an alignment problem. Both vehicles needed a bolt to be added to the rear axle according to the dealer. But, the bolt was not available. The dealer stated there was no factory retrofit available to fix the problem. The other wheels could be aligned within tolerance, except the rear passenger side. The drivers seat on both vehicles would not stay up. The dealer replaced the pump on the 2009 Sedona.

After I checked with Kia dealer, I learned that there were 4 recalls since April of 2013 on my Kia Sedona; they are (1) stop light switch, (2) lower control arm, (3) rear control arm, and (4) heater pipe replacement. I never received recall notices on this vehicle. However, I received recall notice on my other Kia MY2009 sportage vehicle, whose recall repair was taken care of immediately after receiving the notice. Kia needs to do a better job for sending out the recall notices.
