A D V E R T I S E M E N T S
I am a white-haired old woman. I bought the Sportage new, after winning big in Vegas. It was my baby, and it got me where I needed to go without problems. We took a few road trips in it, but later it was relegated to short trips, which explain the low mileage. I had hoped it would serve me well for the rest of my days; until I went blind, died, or went completely bonkers. I am very close to the latter, due to the fact that a bozo hit me head-on, totaling my pride and joy. Here's the bitch--the airbags did NOT deploy, resulting to extremely painful injuries to both legs, but especially the left one, No broken bones but base-ball sized purple contusions on both knees. (There goes my hosiery modelling career--snuffed out in an instant!) My companion suffered a slight concussion, a black eye and bruised cheekbone. We both had chest injuries. At least we both got to have a ride in the ambulance. I had never been alerted about faulty air bags, so I fully expected to be protected. (The air bags in the Honda DID deploy--the schmuck who hit us was not injured, except for the ticket he received, and the likely insurance increase and/or cancellation.) I know this was a couple of months ago, but can't help but wonder if my knees, chest and mental well-being might have survived better had I been afforded the protection I thought I had. I would love to have been able to get another Kia, but since I have limited shelf-life remaining, it would not be feasible for me to invest in a new one, which would cost me more than I paid for my house. Since I was unable to find a used Kia in my price range, I had to settle on a Buick e Sabre. I may weep for my Kia, bu then I think of my sore (And sometimes numb) knees, and my tears get less frequent. Since my injuries were not life-threatening, I didn't whine to the Kia folks, but maybe should have. Had my demise been imminent, I'm sure my survivors would have dashed off a missive. Even though you stated that I could babble on incessantly, I shall spare you. What should have been the winding down of my "golden years", has instead been a series of paperwork, doctor visits and car searches. My advice to Kia: Fix your damn airbag problem, or at least warn us about them!
