Bought this car used with low miles (30,000) even though 6 yrs. old. I needed an affordable 4WD vehicle to get me around in my mountain community in Colo. After struggling with it the entire 1st season, I took it to dealership for assessment and was told there were leaky vacuum lines. Supposed to be inexpensive fix. However, parts for that model year were no longer available, so I paid full price for a new system to be installed. I was not happy to learn that a system as important as the 4WD is operated by a vacuum system. Stupid design!!! The new system only lasted 2 yrs!!

Dealership finds no problem with 4WD system, but in real world application (snow & cold), front hubs do not engage. I have been stuck in my own driveway, trying to leave, and I often must be towed up the mountain to get back home. Sometimes the hubs seem to engage later in the day, after driving for a bit. I've been told the cold air may be affecting the system and to leave the 4WD engaged in evening. That still doesn't help being able to use the system the next day. Who would create a 4WD system that doesn't work in adverse conditions?!! This is a very ineffective system, and I feel duped into buying this car, thinking it would serve my needs as a mountain dweller with need for a strong, reliable vehicle. I did buy it used with low mileage, and now I know why!! The previous owner just wanted to get rid of it.

At 18K 4 Wheel drive went out, it was taken into the dealership over the next year several times for the same problem, but the problem was never corrected and the 4 Wheel drive was still out when the wonderful day came that the POS left my driveway.
