The contact stated that while driving approximately failure had occurred twice before at 35 mph where the contact was able to press the brakes to stop the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to diagnoised the vehicle. Then while coming down the driveway with the brakes pressed when they noticed the vehicle was attempting to lunge despite the brakes being pressed. The contact stated while pulling into their garage at 3mph when the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward going into the garage being stopped by the generator. The vehicle was towed and totaled. The air bags did deploy. The contact did not have injuries and medical attention. The garage was damaged. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
