ES 300 ES V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

I bought a 1999 Lexus ES 300 from a woman who kept the car in the garage all it's life, changed the oil every 3,000 miles and I had all the receipts; I expected this car to run well. I bought the car with 89,000 miles on it. At 102,000 miles the transmission started to shift in a jerking manner until it warmed up. A Lexus dealership recommended flushing the transmission, which was done and the shifting went back to normal. At 122,000 miles the transmission started shifting bad one day and suddenly failed totally loosing reverse and drive; first and second gear still worked. I was told a junk yard tranny could be substituted or my (failed) unit rebuilt. I settled for a tranny rebuilt and now all works well again.
