The dashboard melting when the vehicle was in motion and stationary. Melting dashboard creates a glare in the windshield and makes it impossible to see when driving during the day. Additionally, toxic fumes from melting dashboard make it difficult to breathe when driving.

2008 Lexus IS250 (VIN [xxx]). received a recall on dashboard. Crown Lexus in Ontario California approved the replacement of dashboard as well as all doors in October (?) 2015. I have been calling the dealer multiple times, but still unknown when the parts will come in. I have called Lexus directly on estimate time to ship out parts, but they never provided any answer. I am hoping to sell the car, but resale value would be affected by this not to mention the glare causes safety concern. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Dashboard is sticky and scuffs if you touch it and so are the door panels. If your nail touches it, it digs a deep hole. Something sticky and unsafe sweats from the black part.

My Lexus IS350, 2008 has just over 40000 miles. The dash for about a year or more Is sticky. Driver side Is worst. Reflects into windshield making it hard to drive. I called Lexus several times with no help. Try water/ water and soap. Come in and let detailers look at it. Can't do any thing. Call Lexus dot com. Can't do any think. Never put any on dash as windshield Is too close to dash. The reflection makes it hard to drive in sun. Seems like dash glue Is coming up. Seems like maker should have a fix. Its getting dangerous to drive. Wanted to keep car a long time but don't know now. Scary.

My car Is six years old. It was purchased new. Over time the rubbery substance my dashboard Is made of has started to melt and become sticky. I've never had this happen in a vehicle and wouldn't expect it from a Lexus. Recently, the sun has started to glare off of the melting dashboard, onto the windshield, making visibility of the road difficult. I'm concerned for my safety. Lexus needs to issue a recall. Please help.

Melting dashboard. The material used to create the dashboard has been turning soft, gooey, and shiny over the years. The shine is extremely dangerous in that it obstructs and distracts the view of the driver. A recall should be alerted to resolve this issue.

I purchased my leased Lexus on 12/10/2011. Shortly thereafter, the dashboard started to melt. I have an extend warranty but it does not cover dashboards. I cannot put a cover over the window as the cover sticks to the dashboard. I have been to the Lexus dealership where I purchased it in West palm beach, fl but they will only pay for the part. I would have to pay for labor at a cost of almost $800. I feel that this is considered a defect. I have owned many cars in my lifetime, many less expense than this one and this has never happened to me. When the sun hits the shiny dash, it is difficult to see out the window. I understand that it is happening to many cars and I feel that it is a recall item as it is dangerous to the driver and other cars/pedestrians.

I called in to northside Lexus dealership service department. I explained to them that my dashboard and all my leather on my doors are starting to melt and get sticky. If you hit it with a finger nail, the leather would easily come off. [xxx] which was my service representative told me it's probably what I put on the surfaces to clean it. My response was definitely not. I had used no chemicals at all just a cool water because I didn't want my interior fading on down the line. I reported this in 2011 & 2012. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The cars interior melted and has become not only a nuisance but has become a safety issue. The melting of the dashboard creates a bright reflection in the windshield whole driving making it difficult to see. Furthermore, the melting of the plastic gives off a chemical odor that may be hazardous. Lastly, this is concerning because it may even affect the functioning of my airbags. Lexus decision to put out a tsis after most people's warranties become void is irresponsible and morally corrupt. Enough people have complained about this safety issue that something needs to be done. There are now class actin lawsuits and thousands of others who signed petitions and complained online, although not through this site but that should not matter. Please do not allow Lexus to get away with this.

I currently own a 2008 is-250 with less than 6,000 mile on the odometer. I took my car in to the dealership for several unusual problems. The seals around the wind shield were dry rotted and had fallen out all the way around the windshield. The dash board was also sticky and had a number of cracks. The top of my windshield was also 'de-laminated" and needed to be replaced. Lexus did step up to the plate and replaced the windshield and dash board free of charge even though my vehicle was out of warranty. However, my car has the extended factory warranty on it still to this day. I had to pay $490 plus dollars out of pocket for parts and labor to get them to replace the molding around both sides of my windshield that had rotted away. While my vehicle was being repaired, I pointed out to the service manager the fact that the door panels were also "melting" and if you poke it, it leaves an indentation in the material and it was clearly a defect as the car is garage kept and should not have these problems. The door panels also get a white film on them when the car sits. I believe it is important to keep in mind, this car has less than 6,000 miles. I think Lexus/Toyota needs to replace the door panels on my car free of charge as the problem is a "defect" in workmanship and not an end user caused issue. I love my Lexus and would not hesitate to purchase another one but this is an issue that should be addressed and repaired at the manufacturers expense since I in no way caused the issues I am experiencing.
