Lower ball joint was not properly torqued at factory.There was a recall of this problem in 2000 for 2001 lincolns , over 82,000 vehicles, I don't know if mine was taken care of. The stud from lower ball joint just sheared off this morning on my wife's way to work.

This problem has been a pain. I took it to the dealer they said it was the tire rod. They fixed tired rod then said it was upper and lower ball joints and wanted 900 dollars to fix the issue.
