MKC Reserve 2.3L

Car was dead in the Garage, could not even use the Garage opener. Not a sign of life.

Had car towed to dealer, tow driver had to jump it 4 times to get into the trailer due to it jumping into park when the car shuts down. Dealer had it for 5 days and said that possible we don't know how to start it properly since they could not recreate the problem. Give me a break we have had cars for 50 years and certainly know how to start a car. Tech said he was sure there was something going on but was not sure what it was. So here I sit with a $40,000 car and my wife is afraid to drive it.

MKC Reserve 2.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 500 miles

Traded in a 2010 MKC with 36,000 miles for a 2016 Lincoln MKC Reserve. I noticed that the lights would be on when I went to the garage to drive..just had the car 2 weeks. I went to the car yesterday and found the battery completely dead. The boost battery charger went crazy needle flipping back and forth, finally it settled down enough to charge 12 amps. I then started the car and drove it to the car dealer, don't know what is wrong. They have it in the shop and they gave me a loaner to drive. I've had several Lincolns but never had this problem before. The light switch was in the off position. I've noticed before that the dash lights would stay on for no reason, the only way to shut off all lights was to lock the car, which I had failed to do the night before. I've also noticed that the driving lights and tail lights would come on for a few seconds then go off then repeat over and over again until I locked the doors. Wish I had my old 2010 Lincoln back now.

Update from Oct 19, 2015: shop called today said car was fixed bad battery. The cashier said her truck was doing the same thing and recommended me to leave it because the elec tech would be back from vac tomorrow. Even though lights and everything was shut off they would still come on by there self maybe a hour or two after it was parked..only way to be sure everything stayed off is to lock the car..kinda stupid locking in a garage. Maybe find out something tomorrow..the salesman said lights should stay off so has to be a sensor problem someplace.

Update from Oct 27, 2015: got the car back last Wed. Today Tues 10-27 not a week later battery dead again. Had to jump start and took back to Lincoln dealer..
