In 2012, we bought a used Mark lt with 60K miles. The vehicle since stalled twice after reaching 100K+ miles and draining two battery, shutting down the engine without warning at a low speed and while trying to turn. This rendered the brakes and power steering useless - we just barely avoided frontal collision with street signs and a bridge as well as almost being rear-ended by driver behind us. Fortunately, both were at low speed and on local rural roads. Also, the vehicle has began hesitating when accelerating mostly @ 45-50 mph. The dealership could not re-create issues after first incident and the diagnostics did not show any error codes. Ford issued tsb's in 2008 describing " the engine problems are the result of defects in the following vehicle systems and components:...powertrain control module (PCM),...transmission control module (tcm, ...electronic throttle control (etc) and/or the throttle body assembly" which can lead to the following performance and safety issues " acceleration hesitation, loss of revolutions per minute, stalling, loss of power (incl. Loss of power at high rate of speed), sudden and intermittent deceleration and other similar and potentially life threatening malfunctions." Several complaints have been made directly to NHTSA. It is irresponsible that the oem is allowed to continue with this practice in the name of profit and is not required rectify the defects immediately and continues placing customers in danger. The recent GM case should have taught us all a lesson.

2006 Lincoln Mark lt went into "engine failsafe mode" for no reason. This created a very dangerous condition with the truck going into an idle. Pulled truck over and restarted engine.

There are currently two 2006 Lincoln Mark lt pick up trucks in the service dept. At queen city Lincoln Mercury @ 7301 South blvd, charlotte, nc 28273 with the same problem. Mine is one of them. The vehicle has 5000 miles on it, has been there for 23 days, and they can not figure out why the vehicle shakes and vibrates as if running over rumble strips at 20 - 25 mph. Sounds like unsafe construction to me that should be declared a public safety hazard. The trucks are from 2 different states originally so it is not a matter of one delivery of 2 bad vehicles.
