Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town car. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 13V385000 (steering); however, the dealer refused to perform the repairs. The contact mentioned that the technician explained that the recall repairs were performed six months prior at another dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact that the recall repairs could not be performed a second time. The contact stated that the vehicle was never repaired under the recall. The contact had not experienced a failure.

The technician performed the repairs for NHTSA campaign number: 13V385000 (steering) but the failure recurred. The contact mentioned that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that the upper intermediate steering shaft was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 98,500 and the current mileage was 100,100.

The contact owns a 2005 Lincoln Town car. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the steering wheel became stuck without any warning. The vehicle returned to normal function after the contact proceeded to drive. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics, who both informed the contact that the lower intermediate shaft and steering column lower bearing would need to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 13V385000 (steering) however, the contact's VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.
