car just overheated one day, I shut it down before the needle got in the red and had it towed to a local repair shop. turns out that the water pump had failed and the radiator cracked from the heat I suppose, also replaced radiator while I had it there since the whole cooling system basically got replaced.

Since it is a front wheel drive car and the water pump is very hard to get to, the labor is VERY steep to replace the water pump. It costs the same to replace the water pump as it does to change the timing belt, so do yourself a favor and have the timing belt replaced when (and if) the water pump fails!! I had just replaced the timing belt 30K prior, so I saved NONE> :(
