Purchased a 2014 Mazda CX-5 with only 600 miles on it. At approximately 15,000 miles on it, had to replace rotors as they were warped already. Later at approximately 50,000 miles rotors were warped again. I am being told by the service technicians that I brake too hard. I am 50 years old and have owned several different cars and driven them up to or even beyond 100,000 miles and have NEVER had rotor issues. So I don't think it's my driving style. I think this vehicle has a defect in either the braking system or with the rotors themselves. I have seen numerous similar complaints online, yet Mazda has still not come out with a recall or bulletin about this. This is very frustrating and would appreciate an explanation other than "it's my driving" that is causing this to happen.

Have had rotors replaced twice, once at 15,000 miles and once at 50,000 miles. Have been told "it's my driving and braking too hard". I fail to believe this because I have owned multiple vehicles in my lifetime and have never replaced rotors on any of them, even at 100,000 plus miles. There has to be a defect in the 2014 CX-5 as this is happening a lot to a lot of owners of the vehicle. Please do something about this Mazda, is a very expensive repair. Thank you.

CX-5 LX 2.5L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 27,000 miles

Prior to 27,000 miles I was noticing the front brakes would pulsate badly upon application of the brakes. Since my inspection was due soon I had them check it out. They said the rotors were "visibly warped" and that this was NOT covered under warranty. Instead of paying the dealer, I did it myself (been doing this stuff all my life). I bought 2 new rotors at NAPA for $60 each (instead of dealer's $90 each) and changed them. This solved the problem for maybe 10k miles, when it started all over again. Since I kept the original rotors, I had them turned and this time replaced the brake pads too at around 50k miles. It's only been 3k miles so I'm hoping this fixed it, but there is no reason for the front rotors to fail at 25K miles.
