Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The 2007 Mazda CX-7 has numerous reports filed with the NHTSA about engine & A/C problems.

Owners report problems with the 2007 CX-7's Variable Valve Timing (VVT) & timing chain failing, causing major damage to the engine — Mazda uses an interference design so typically the valves are bent & the entire engine needs to be replaced. Mazda dealers typically quote $9,000 for an engine replacement.

There is also a trend of the turbo failing at low mileage.

Finally for the 2007 CX-7 there is a clear pattern of A/C compressor failure at relatively low mileage. Owners report smoke & occasionally the serpentine belt catches fire when the A/C compressor clutch seizes while driving. Mazda extended the A/C warranty to 60,000 miles, however many owners report their A/C compressor failed very soon after the 60k mark.

In 2011, Mazda began a "Special Service Program" that extended the warranty to 7 years/70,000 miles covering turbocharger oil leaks & excessive timing chain noise — an early sign of timing chain failure. However coverage under the program requires perfect documentation of all required maintenance with other stipulations. Buyer beware.

While driving, heard a noise coming from the passenger side, some smell coming from that direction as well. Lost power to the vehicle, turned off the road and notice that there was smoke coming from the A/C compressor.

Was returning to California from Arizona when car started making an awful noise. I suspected it was the A/C compressor as I had read about their failures online. I had just passed the 60,000 mile extended coverage period, however my Mazda dealer was able to get Mazda to cover 95% of the charges. I was not happy that I had to pay anything at all, but I feel fortunate that Mazda threw me a bone. Others have not been so lucky. Mazda should compensate them.

I am the owner of a 2007 Mazda Cx-7....... about 3 days ago the A/C stopped working and the car only has 40,000 miles on it..... I did a little research and apparently the A/C system in the 2007 Mazda Cx-7 is not exactly up to par because the following year the A/C system was completely re-done on all 2008 Mazda Cx-7..... now im stuck here in blazing hot Texas with a vehicle that is barely 2 years old and I cant afford a new A/C compressor...... also I am looking forward to my car breaking down due to the fact that the compressor has been known to snap belts...
