The contact owns a 2007 Mazda Mazda5. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering column needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Mazda, Mazda5. The contact started the ignition and detected that the power steering would not function. There was no prior warning. The contact proceeded to drive with difficulty turning the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense. The identical defect was mentioned in the recall associated with the NHTSA campaign id number 10V374000 (steering:electric power assist system). The VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 64,000.
