During warm climate and in bumper-to-bumper traffic vehicle would suddenly and unexpectedly accelerate. Vehicle had been to the dealer on three separate occasions and they were unable to duplicate the problem. Engine RPM's jump to 3000-4000 when in heavy bumper to bumper traffic. The consumer had to stand on brake to hold car back.

While idling at a stop sign or traffic light, vehicle races to extremely high rpms. After vehicle is restarted, it then returns to normal. Dealer cannot determine the cause. Consumer adds that the cruise control resume feature works intermittently.

After exiting from a ramp, I proceeded to accelerate into traffic. There was a jerk and car felt as if it was "stuck" in gear. Turned on and off, car did not move forward while in drive. Other components appeared to be working. Towed to Mazda dealer. Informed needed completely new transmission
