Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

The contact owns a 2002 Mazda Tribute. While driving 35 mph, the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the entire subframe was fractured due to corrosion. The dealer repaired the vehicle according to NHTSA campaign number: 14V174000 (suspension). The technician informed the contact that the lower control arms, both frontal struts, and the tie rod ends needed to be replaced due to excessive corrosion on the subframe. 2002 Mazda Tribute. Unable to open the door to exit the vehicle. I had to open the window and stick my arm out the window to unlock the door from the exterior door handle. In addition, the rear lift gate would not remain closed or locked and would stay open while the vehicle was in motion.

Door handle on the passenger side does not open the door anymore. It seems that interior handle stopped working correctly by using it in a normal way. This affects safety since the passenger door can be opened only from the outside.
